That's BEAUTIFUL!

I have to be honest.. Looking at all that beautiful paint work, I'm nervous about it being put back together and it's not even MINE! Smile

Seriously though, take your time in reassembling it. When I got my freshly painted convertible shell back, I rushed a bit and that's when I'd chip something. Thank goodness for touch up paint!

I hear you. Its bound to happen, but I will just have to go slow.

I had Tim respray the front cab. When I did it, it came out pretty good, but I had some dry spots here and there.

Spraying the inside of a bus without a booth is just out of control

I have to say this by far will be the nicest bus I have ever owned

Don.... dude.....

when i saw the pics pop up from tim on the book of faces, i thought maybe he was redoing your two-tone camper (not that it needed it).

then i was tossing around the idea of a scooby swap for my POS Thing so i wouldn't be scared to drive it to those CT shows.

and i found this thread. my mind is BLOWN!

man, i knew you did great work, but this is amazing. your attention to all the details is on another level. you don't have to say it again, everyone else will be. best bay on the east coast, hands down.

i've been meaning to shoot you a text and see if you were out of hibernation, but i should have known the beast never rests.

i'm going to keep an eye on this thread and let it inspire me to do more than just fiddly bits on mine.

the paint is sikkens (got VOC? yea, you know me!) no waterbase stuff here.

if you put your nose in the air and sniff real hard, all you smell is vaporized money.

please, don't anyone here be any kind of envious. i literally have worked 2 1/2 jobs to pull this bus together. i have been going through money faster than shit through a tin funnel.

busdaddy i will do a video for sure. i know how much of a stock nazi you are, and appreciate you posting here. most of the time i am as well, but what i am doing will take little effort to reverse, that's why i went with the OE color scheme...hack i am, butcher i am not.

Hey! Shocked Confused Razz , I wouldn't exactly call myself a stock nazi, but I am guilty of being a badly done hack hater and think that if you can't do it properly don't try and second guess one of the most sucessful vehicle companies in the world and thier engineers, they must have gotten it almost right for the era or is there another reason to explain thier sucess?. I'm sure you have given this mucho thought and I'm looking forward to a tasteful and well executed conversion that taps into the 21'st century technology available today, from the rest of your work I expect little else Smile

As for the envy you've got it whether you want it or not, I spend many of my days completeing other peoples high dollar restos yet my own bus waits for simple maintenance like oil changes far too long, I'm far past beginning to realize that someday may never come unless I get the finger out and you can't take it with you so do it now! I envy your drive and determination to make it happen while you can still enjoy it, many of my customers are at the age when they should be in a care home by the time they finally are living thier dream (not my fault, it was thier heel dragging to start the job), they should have started 20+ years earlier.

Thanks Embarassed

I grew up with a father that was non existant and a grandfather that (for reasons of his own) couldn't finish a project.

I NEVER wanted to be 'that guy'

I work far too hard making other peoples shit run/look right. It was time to put my skillset to work for me.

I am not kidding when I tell you my day starts at 5:30am and at about 11:50pm, I sit down and "unwind" to do it all over....

The one thing I can never buy is time. I love seeing people travel about in these old rigs. The thing to think about is can you mentally handle a project like this. For every hour Tim and Matt have into this bus, I have 6 into making all the sub-systems right. No one in their right mind would assemble somthing like this with crusty parts.

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!

ain't aluminum pretty when it's new Razz

and Tim being a dick, decided to do a quick cut and buff....as if I wasn't going to wear a foam suit building this thing as it was... Laughing

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

s.o.p. is to build the car then go back and buff after it has been leaned all over etc. now I will have to bring my A game to a whole new level.

so, I could have it dropped off to me this weekend, but I will let it sit at his place. I have to do some welding on another bus so having this around isn't going to help with all the cutting and welding going on.

besides, if this was here, it would be a huge distraction to me, as I have other work I need to get done for people. so close, yet so far away Laughing

I take my rear-view mirror off to shave when I'm on extended bus trips. Looks like you can just use YOUR WHOLE FRICKIN' BUS as a mirror Shocked

That looks amazing; can't wait to see videos of you passing more than just Priuses.

i'll slow down so you can catch a quick shave when I pass ya Very Happy

scary thing is, that's not even it's final buff Shocked

babysnakes....your single will be even nicer than this old girl...you were able to get into all the nooks and crannies on the single.

if I had to do it over again....

1) I would have never bought the bus

1a) if I knew this is how it was going to be, I would have done it on a rotisserie and did a better job detailing the chassis. but hey, there is always the next one Shocked
