Yes, threads onto 16 TPI NC. (16 threads per inch, National Course) Straight threads, not pipe threads.

I use the 2 inch unit, but the link to the ebay item is a 2.5 inch filler cap. I think there were two sized chevy truck body gaskets for their filler neck. Just have to check and see with LMC Truck Parts. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

I don't know if you got the filler neck figured out , but I have a Allison the tank is at such a slant all the gas is not useable, you might want to think about shimming the front of the tank up that way it will allow more of that neck to come through and have more useable fuel. Hell I cranked mine up to day in the shop since it hadn't been cranked in awhile well it cut off after a few minutes fuel filter was empty so I stuck the tank with my paint stick. it came up to the 2 inch mark poured about 1 gallon in and fired back up. I checked the mileage from the last fill hadn't been but 108 miles. didnt think I had been that far. it was mainly city driving. I wish I had some input when that new tank went in mine I would have like to tried to do something to level out the tank. |

yea mine is a standard tank also yea the mpg prob be better with that engine im just saying since your at that stage in the build maybe take a look at the slant I think my carb is running alittle rich maybe is using little more fuel I got to look in to that, the fuel gauge doesn't work properly so I drive off the odometer also usually about 100 miles before top off. Got the battery box in and ready. We are using a PC680 style battery
Brake Res mounted and ready. it will come back off the body for paint.
Big foot pedal in and gas pedal clearanced for the use n the subaru throttle body. I had to clearance the pedal at the upper and lower travel as well as the stop on the backside of the roller in the pedal cluster.
Breather box in and installed ports in heads for breather on engine.
Brake proportioning valve mounted and plumbed to system.

Starting the crossmembers and standoffs for the radiator. New Territory here...
Here it is roughed in. The stand offs are mounted top and bottom and will hold the custom radiator in place. The fan is just a placeholder for now.
We will have to "BOX" the radiator in and cowl it up on the sides... The idea is to pick up the air from the low pressure under the body and force it UP through the radiator and out the top. The Fans will be in Puller mode to assist. The fellow whop custom built our three row high efficiency says we wont have a problem with heat at all.
The last picture is the rear seat down and what will be the front side of the "BOX". The upper and lower mounts will have rubber built up to cushon the ride for the radiator.

Oh dear we are infamous!
John is going to be doing the Roll cage for the build. Its a matter of collecting time and money! We got lucky that the radiator was finished late last week and I was able to get it on Friday to start fitting.
As soon as I can get all the fabrication/ fitting I have been doing to a stable spot John will get the car. I'm looking forward to John having the car as the cage and the fiberglass work are big steps I need help with. |

Time for another Allison update. We had to narrow the tow bar and then were able to tow the car to be aligned. After that we took the car yesterday to have the custom exhaust build for the Subaru. Check it out. Next up is the roll bar/ cage to be built.

Pretty darn cool!! Were you able to fire it up for a few seconds and hear it?
You're build makes me wonder, is there a market for a pre-made buggy/baja Subby exhaust for the non-turbo motors? I know a lot of guys go the turbo route but the non-turbo motor is probably more budget friendly, doesn't require a monster trans and still has plenty of HP and modern engineering. _________________ www.LoCashRacing.org

Hi there john!
I wish. No wiring harness. First start will be final assembly. The engine has been run and operated from out front prior to delivery.
To your question... I believe you are right...we think that a non turbo SUby is the way to go. Simple...less heat...and modern technology. Still looking at near 200 hp. That's still a bunch. We have a built tranny by rancho in the car with a 3.88 in it. The out front guys said use the 3.88 and that it can handle it with no issues. Had we had a bunch more money to spend we would have done a SUby tranny BUT let's think here...anything over 60 or 70 mph is asking for trouble in my opinion. That tranny would really enable that... |

Not to go greatly off topic, but a club member put a 2.1 suby in his Ghia and yesterday he told me it can get to be a hand full at WOT. I am thinking he told me the old 2.1's had around 140 horse. He said the Ghia is quick and fast. Then drop that in a lighter weight buggy..........
He had a fellow club member build him a beefed up 3.88 also. Crown Super Dif, welded 3rd and 4th, steel shift forks.
I am looking forward to riding in it. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Hi all,
Big doings on the Roll Cage today. With design guidance from Lo Cash John and a Matchbox size Manxter as inspiration, here's the mock up of the cage thus far.
We are looking at changing a few of the angles a bit but for the most part (And because its a long body car) this is what it looks like. It would actually be a bit easier to do the cage in my thoughts if it was a 2 seat short car BUT Randy who is building the Cage is doing a great job dealing with me and our family heirloom. He was even kind enough to put one of his employees in the car when he sent the pictures today for me to look at. I plan on going up to see the car (its about an hour drive away at Randy's Shop in Stuart, FL) to get more pictures tomorrow night.
Enjoy and feel free to comment. The end looks to be in sight and I don't thinks its an oncoming train just yet.

I like the profile of the cage. I think it goes well with the shape of the body. |
