Not many bad spots apparently. The '55 Knickscheibe I saw on a trailer last monday look liked a hopeless case with not a single panel in reasonable shape. According to the driver of the van it wasn't too bad, the speedster he had in the van arrived with them as a pile of parts on two pallets. Now it was fresh from the painter and looked very nice.
What kind of material do you use for blasting ? Steel or glass particles ? |

So nice it's a shame to paint it. Just clear it to show it off. Very excellent. _________________ Mic

Super thread. Just looked through all the photo's yet again. Its the dream of most 356 owners to have a body finished like that. Super gaps, very nice leading. It is a form of art to get that perfect.
I have a question? for its age the car was obviously well looked after by its owner and after seeing some shots of the floor I presume that most of the structural area of the chassis were in good condition apart from the area behind the bak of the passenger side door. Was that and the thin rear floor attended to first?
Just like Justin Rio's restoration techniques this restoration makes it look sort of easy to do. How far no doubt that is from the truth. I remember many years ago trying leading for the first time and seeing most of my effort on the garage floor. That front nose repair you did looks a lovely job not so easy at all.
Well done, look forward to seeing how it ends up.

Wow! Now that's a restoration! I'm gonna say that paint and body will be roughly $50k and about 1 year? |

How do you stop flash rusting on bare metal exposed like this as you work on it? |

I do not often post here, but had to come out to say WELL DONE!
Beautiful work, nice to see all the bondo gone and good clean surfaces that will shine like a mirror when painted. Thanks for sharing. |
