|
|
Hello,
I am looking into buying a Brasilia. I live in Canada where they were never imported. I am having trouble finding information on the mechanical parts used. I am hoping someone might be able to help me out.
For example:
What kind of beam does it use?
Is it like a type 1 in the rear?
Are the shift rod linkages special to the Brasilia or do they use Beetle mechanicals?
Are there other specialties that I should be aware of?
Thanks very much for any light anyone might be able to shed on the Brasilia model.
Cheers,
Don |

I actually know where one is, but don't know if it is a good idea to buy it or not, considering the parts and service manual availability.
Do you sell parts etc? |

Hi,
A bit delayed response, I guess.... but let´s go

The Brasilia uses two pair of non sealed 5" beans. The outside bean has a little 5W park lamp in a separated socket. The bulb are P45T ones (40/45W)

Yep, but the torsion bars are longer, because of larger floor pan. The Z bar is a bit diferent than Typ 1. All Brasilias are swing axle.

No, same of the beetle.

No, the Beetle and Brasilia are very similar. Only the oil level stick are diferent: in the Brasilia the oil level stick is in the body, at the botton of rear lid frame. There is a rubber hose inside the engine trunk to protect it.

I believe he actually was referring to the front suspension beam (torsion tube housing). I love the look of those 5" headlights though. _________________ OK Thang |

You are correct wbrown45. I am still strangely attracted to these cars, but will probably never own one now. As they say though, "never say never" .
Thanks for the info from all above. _________________
