They got the production date right. The last chassis number for Feb. is 1-0451312. Your is just before that, hence the 26th of Feb.

depending on how original looking you want the interior to be, don't go with the sample for seat material and door panels. Marcus (beetlekey) has the type that's as close to original as possible. In my car, you can't tell the new from the old, other than a bit of wear on the original.

Thank´s for the flowers Wink but these are my samples.
The colour comes a bit wrong. The carpet can also have a lighter sidecover.
It is possible that the headliner was darker, i am working on that.
There were only two fabriccolours. Brownbeige ( my ) for all carcolours and Greybeige ( Himmelservice ) ONLY FOR METALBLUE LKL 35 cars Exclamation Exclamation

Well got to clean up transmission today and it came out pretty good.
Should have axles, disc breaks, master cylinder and brake lines done this weekend. Beam, dropped spindles and steering box by mid next week and on its wheels it goes. Camber and alignment should be easier since its just a chassis. Engine tins will be painted and engine put together with exhaust and mounted. Getting close to a built chassis.Cool Then on to the body, wish me Luck! Shocked

Trans is looking good - how long did that take? Are you planning on coating it with something to keep it looking that good or just let it dull down naturally?
Did you block the axle tube holes with something to stop any debris getting in there?

Good work on the pan - good luck with the body Smile

Here are some pics of what I have been doing to the chassis, tranny, front beam and disc brakes. I also changed out choke cable, accelerator cable, heater cable, clutch cable and added rear brake soft and hard lines as well as main line from front to rear. Cut some small pieces of fuel line and put on main brake line to protect and works well. Have almost all pieces of front beam done and will be finishing by this weekend hopefully as putting a time limit on a build does not always work out Wink. Well its coming along well and hope to start on the body soon cant wait! Very Happy Cool

Wow, that's some serious stopping power you installed there! Tip: Rotate the axle boots a little, so that the screwed rubber flanges point more to the back of the car instead of straight up. I've heard that they flex easier that way and it may prevent a leak.

Pete, nice work, I just whould suggest to turn the axl booths 1/4 turn so the seam is flat and not on top. This way, the same will bend while suspension is working. Now the seam of the boot will pushed in out causing the seam break faster. The amount of oil in the axl tubes will not be high. In the workshop manual from VW it is also reccomended.
Cheers.

Decided on doing the upholstery for my seats today and I think I did a decent job considering my first set of split beetle seat in fabric not vinyl. I was definitely nervous Shocked . Taking my time on these trust me not cheap! God Be With Me! Laughing

You need to add one or two 12mm ID washers to your bowden tube, there's not enough sag. And find the 7mm conical clutch adjustment nut and locknut as the wing-nut doesn't really work on the old clutch arms.

And yes, the axle boot seams should be at 10 and 2 o'clock. Too bad you crimped the Oetiker clamps...correctly. Sad

Your upholstery job came out great, I feel your pain having done a few myself...

Cool
