You need to add one or two 12mm ID washers to your bowden tube, there's not enough sag. And find the 7mm conical clutch adjustment nut and locknut as the wing-nut doesn't really work on the old clutch arms.
And yes, the axle boot seams should be at 10 and 2 o'clock. Too bad you crimped the Oetiker clamps...correctly.
Your upholstery job came out great, I feel your pain having done a few myself...

Yes you are right and that has been taken care of already, The wingnut was hitting when tightening and the tube does have the sag just not seen correctly in the pic. Thanks for lookin out. Happy Holidays, Peter |

Well today I was going through the forums and found this thread from back in 2007. If I would have known about this car like this thread explains I also probably would have walked away myself. With my inexperience with Splits especially Zwitters jump right in thinking cool not only a split but a Zwitter Euro 3 fold ragtop with semaphores this is going to be a cool build!
It has been a cool build, I am about 51% finished with the car but reading through this thread it was like I have experienced every thing that was said about it. Trying to obtain all correct Zwitter Parts and not cheap after market repop stuff and trust me the list is long. I have finally located and purchased all but 1 more 2 items I am still waiting for. It has been stressfull at times but I am very pursistent and dont give up easy. I am finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel and starting the body work and paint. Thanks to all who has helped me either with information about correct parts, leads on where to find correct parts, or selling me correct parts and most importantly great moral support.
The Samba is Truly a Great VW Community thats always there to help. I dont think I would be able to build this car correctly if it wasnt for The Samba and you guys ! I am not done yet but wanted to give you guys my appreciation for all your help and Wish you Guys Happy Holidays and New Year for You and Your Families! Thanks again, Peter

Nice build...
Using paint stripper you have to be careful with but it looks like you've done a good job...
I sent you the information you requested via PM |

Finally acquired a complete 55 and earlier interior in great condition. Also got a early 4 tab hood, w-decklid, early oval rear clip and apron and a bunch of solid metal cut out of a 55. I am thinking of selling some of the parts but definitely keeping the rear seat. Damn it took a while!!

Very nice progress. That is some clean welding work. I know that you must be happy to have that part done. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

The metal repairs look great. Where did the rear window divider bar metal come from? |
