Big day today.
1. bought an OG steering wheel that is in great shape to replace the plastic repop wheel that is in the car. someone had cut a notch in the top of the wheel... maybe for a suicide handle? regardless, I don't like the feel of repop wheels so I'm stoked on the purchase.
2. lowered the car 2 outer splines in the rear. the car isn't IRS either, it is swingaxle. this was a huge revelation for obvious reasons. short axle conversion will be happening in the next 1-2 weeks along with new axle boots and a front end exam.
got the car lowered and it is slightly cockeyed, so we'll be doing the appropriate math to level it out on friday. _________________ '67 Squareback

OG wheel is in, car is leveled in the rear and front has been lowered to match.
Picking up a new ignition column tomorrow to replace my current one with the broken clamp and eliminate my vertical play in the column. After that, new front, rear, and rear 1/4 window seals with trim are in order. And relocating the oil filter.

Back in the day there was a recall for Fastbacks and Squarebacks that consisted of cutting out the original vents and installing new vents that faced the opposite direction.
I believe they were riveted in and didnt include a seal. _________________ '65 1500 S [quareback]

been driving and enjoying the car a lot lately. re-registered my black places from my peru green 68 to the 69. i also recently changed the oil and had a shop fix a fuel leak and install a new column to fix the vertical play i had. they also relocated the external oil filter a bit higher to keep it out of the way.
i've noticed a squeak coming from the passenger rear wheel as the car rolls. it has been around for quite a while but i've been working on fixing lots lately, so i want to nip this in the bud. it sounds like it is squeaking once per revolution but doesn't make really any noise at speed. anyone have any ideas what it could be?
super happy to have the car on the road and driving _________________ '67 Squareback

Either the big axle nut needs to be tightened, the splines in the hub are wearing out, or the rear torsion bushings are shot but I'd think it's wheel related since it's tied to revolutions.

Also check your hubcaps/springs, and try adjusting your brake shoes and ebrake. |

Also check the CV joint bolts, as Joe had them come loose and had a squeak from them. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

It ended up being the big axle nut - got it tightened to spec and threw in a new cotter pin. No more squeaking! |
If it comes loose again it's likely time for a drum (5 lug) or a hub (4 lug). _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Good to know. I have some pulsing in the brakes, taking it in to get that checked out next week. Might need new drums to solve that issue (if they haven't been turned previously). _________________ '67 Squareback

Got the square detailed this weekend. Yes, I fixed the door trim right after this photo was taken. Dropped it back off at the shop this morning to get my brakes figured out.
Also notice the oil filter isn't hanging so close to the ground like it was in previous pics.

Pretty low! How many inches to your beam? Lots of scrapes on it I imagine? _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Cool! And I won't even harass you about your tires.

Yep, it's pretty low. 3" narrowed beam. Thankfully the Southern California roads are pretty smooth |
You must be in one of the few areas where they take care of problems. S. CA seems to be generally garbage compared to AZ/NM/OR/WA from the travels I've done. _________________ How to Post Photos
