Did you get a permanent happy grandpa repair on that front end? _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Except for carbs, it looks like a complete type 3 to me. I assume you're using an electric fuel pump.
I'm going to mention just in case, you need to make sure your thermostat is good, and connected correctly to the flaps in the fan shroud. I imagine you're ahead of me on that though.
I don't see anything missing, other than the fact that I break out in a sweat every time you post something, thinking one of these times I'm going to see complete body work, paint, and interior....
No pressure, just love the project and can't wait to see it! |

Let me address your concerns ;
This is not ; and has never been ; a project for show or flash . " Been there done that " I have trophys over 40 years old in the garage
This is a shade tree attempt to make a dependable P.C. (personal camper ) for an old guy to go camping in 5 or 6 weekends a year.
If I back up into another picnic table or one of the four great grandchildren run a bike into it I can come home and get out the spray cans and touch it up .
I went to a local car show last night in Clearwater Florida . I took my trophy winning , finished , 63 - three fold ragtop ( Purple Car ) that spends too much of it's life waiting under the carport beside the house .
NOTE ; first car show since febuary
Rest assured that the possibility of you finding fancy paint or body work on this thread is beyond remote
Somebody's still interested in my little project ....85000 hits on Samba...

Not for show?
Okay, I hear ya, Pete.
But I think that even though that ragtop is gorgeous, the Bugvan will make them drop their beers on their feet. |

You do know there's a guy in the classifieds that is offering to convert the carb tops to a screw in fitting right? Monte had that done on his after he had a fire on the right carb.
I normally knurl the brass tube, and use green loctite (bearing and sleeve retainer) to keep the tube in place.
Just so you know, Solex carbs aren't the only ones this can happen to. Webers have the same problem, as do mechanical fuel pumps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Grandpa, Hope you get rid of that pigmy before I come over. Those guys can be very nasty. Might be replacing some stuff on my 66 in a few months, maybe we could do another trade. Will PM you this week.
