So after almost 8mths of trying to find good quality factory thing wheels I gave up and got talking to Dan from DansPerformancParts.com

After a short discussion and many hours looking around the web I decided I would have to give up my hubcaps and squared rims and get my thing some bling.

Dan was awesome to deal with and had the wheels I wanted ( based on an orange thing in the wheel thread) in under 24 hrs and Tire Rack had my rubber to my door in about the same. So in under 24hrs from making the decision I had new wheels on my things.

Thanks for the great Thing Wheels Thread no I just have to wipe away my hubcap tears and enjoy a thing that can drive over 45 mph.

Seeing your Manx builds and your question about off road wheels made me think I would see this one up on 33s when I checked it out.

Looks good!

Funny you should say that as I have been having a very tough time not lifting it ( have a 3" lift kit ready to go)

In the end it is never going to see any real offroad action so stock ride height etc seemed like a much smarter option. It will still get the Subaru Conversion but not the lift.

It's a slippery slope. Cut/turned beam, then a body lift, then a link pin beam, next thing you know you'd have been better off building a buggy.

Should be nice with the Subaru setup though!

looks good. I'm in Nor-Cal. I was blessed with factory wheels...which I shod with Maxxis buckshots. Not sure that my runs are "real offroad" but I run some goat trails on a pretty regular basis. Don't underestimate the capabilities of the lowly thing.

I am a huge fan of "keep it original at all costs" so I still run the " hubcaps and squared rims" but I really like the looks of those wheels on the Thing!

Yeah I was too BUT after running these new ones and driving down the road at 60mph without a single shudder I have gotten over it. I still have the factory ones and new tyres so if I come across some good rims I will snap them up.

I must admit though the look of the new mags is growing on me though

I have always been a "keep it original" guy, but the BRM wheels look really good, I may go for it next year also. Just for a change of pace.

I'm glad my car could be the inspiration for your wheel choice! Looks great.

Sweet but I think the 205's fill the guard so much better and hit on nothing.
