next trip to NJ Ill have to contact 0bus for accomadations&food. I grew up there, dad was at maguire afb.I havent been back in ....40+ years, but still have friends there. as for hangout hear in this aera the hidaway.(papa joes).not realy a tourist joint like most others in this aera. for great seafood, fresh off the boat, there are a few, dewey destins(destin fl), harrbor docks(also destin) the warf, also destin, witch you bring you catch to and they fix it up oh so good. and for the fishing...the largest charter boat fleet in fl.& I can always get a line on the best boat, neil finkel'sboats("shockenyall" is one) always have a great catch& he's a great guy....and just down the dock from the warf where you eat your catch, well a small portion of it.
then there are the tourist joints with china&whoo knows what fish.....or fudpuckers, bubbagumps, anglers, then criss&ruths.......chain shit starts |

We are always on the hunt for a mom and pop restaurant so we are in Floyds Knobs, Indiana on a Saturday night and I asked one of the locals and he steered us to the Pizza King. Not normally what I call a mom and pop but there were a couple of VWs in the pack and the others seemed enthused so we went there. It all depends on which side of the building your park on as to whether it is a Pizza King or the Korner Kitchen. I wanted a mom and pop, so I parked on the Korner Kitchen side. It was indeed a Pizza King with all that you would expect and also a Korner Kitchen with country fried steak. But the best part was the live country band and just about every senior citizen in the county. At least a dozen gray haired couples were on the dance floor throughout the evening. It was a truly beautiful and memorable night. |

I've heard of this place for years, but didn't want to put it in until I had tried it. I have, and it was great:
Cole's, Los Angeles' oldest Public House, Established 1908
Basement of the Pacific Electric Railway Building in the Historic Core
118 E. 6th St.
Los Angeles, CA
http://213nightlife.com/colesfrenchdip
Cole's and Philippe the Original in Chinatown each claim to be the originators of the French Dipped sandwich. The dispute will likely never be resolved and indeed it makes a lot of publicity for both businesses.
I've tried both, and I think that Philippe has a slightly tastier sandwich and Cole's is a more pleasant place to eat. Cole's has the charm of a 1920s speakeasy with courteous waiters and a selection of interesting beers while Philippe has the ambiance of a prison mess hall.
Still, any sandwich aficionado should visit both![/img] |

Or for the best Philly cheesesteak south of Philly, try the Copper Penny in Wilmington
