2.5 subie installed and would like to pull the rear heater under the seat. Do I form a loop with the lines that are left in or cap each one off
Cheers

plug the lines. If you put them together the loop bypasses the front heater. If you think it will never be put back remove the T fittings from the main hoses (I had one snap in 10 deg F) _________________ -cliff

It depends on how your cooling system is configured. My cooling system with the KEP method must have a bypass in the heater circuit. Plugging the lines would cause the engine to overheat.
Best thing is to ask whoever did your conversion. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

X2!
DON'T plug those lines until you know how your feedback to the thermostat works. If it uses the heater loop you must leave the lines connected or you will overheat or at the least run too hot. If the thermostat feedback loop has to go thru the front heater it will fool the thermostat into thinking that the engine is running at a much lower temp than it really is. Please talk to the engine conversion shop first. _________________ Dave O

mine too, I have the Vanaru coolant system - the rear heater hoses must be connected if the heater is removed to provide the necessary water for the T-stat to operate.
If you have Tom Shiels Coolant plate at the T-stat housing, I think you can plug those rear heater hoses.

+ 100 Make sure that your heater loop isn't the feedback circuit for the thermostat before capping those lines! You can always put a restrictor in there (1/4" ball valve) so you can control the flow. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

You bet but if you notice on that post last year my concern was to loop or not whereas this post I wanted to know the best way to work on the pipes from the top or the bottom |
