Ooh, dual oil baths!! Very Nice!! Last I checked, around the US, that center piece was rediculous expensive....

PostPosted: Sun Dec 07, 2014 4:01 pm    Post subject: engine tin Reply with quote

Hi

I need some help determining what is the correct tin for my engine bay.

The engine tin that I currently has upper tins which are square at the edges. Looks like they fit the majority of the engine bays in this thread.

BUT, my engine bay is not rectangular, it is much more round at the sides kind of like the last Picture in this thead. This leaves a big gap that I would like to get rid of....

1. are there two types of engine compertments for the thing/181?
2. which tins fit the rounder engine compartment?

PS: my car is an 1979 181 ex german army

Thanks

Alex

Alex,
You will need to find the Late Model Fuel injection style tin...
That is what fits the rounded ending opening..... Wink

Or you could fabricate an overhanging tin to attach to your square tin and fill the void....

I try to keep it looking stock, and keep it clean. Everyone wants to look at the engine when they check out my Thing, so I try to keep it presentable and in good operating condition.
