Well - I decided to sell my 356. I got some unsolicited offers over the past few years and finally decided to move on.

In the end, the absolute TERRIBLE experience with the "other" folks turned my stomach so bad on the whole crowd - I said screw it and got out of the 356 hobby all together.

I invested the money I made into a very rare and original VW - so I'm not looking back.

Anyway, thanks to all for the help along the way from the "normal" folks.

To the rest, I'll be mindful not to let the door hit me on the way out....

Later!

Kevin

Well Kevin, I wish you all the very best with your new interest. I have a real liking for early split rear window VW's. They are fun without question and have real character. I am sure you will now be on the Samba with your new car and if you do post on there which thread heading would you be on?

I think you must be a litle like me, I bought my old runner when forums and of course even PC's were unknown entities we wrote letters by hand and if ever we even saw another 356 on the road we couldn't get our hand on the steering wheel flasher fast enough.

They were the good old days when you could still buy a rusty wreck for $150- or so and there were normal people just having a laugh with them and appreciating what a lovely shape they were.

Keep smiling

Roy ( still a normal bloke I think!)

I'm sorry to hear of the "bad taste" you got. We are all not like that. My door is always open.

Did your 356 stay somewhat local?

Congrats on your new VW. Yes please post a link or just some pics so we can see it. Your description of it is leaving me guessing & wanting more.

That's a shame, I don't know you and I'd be fairly sure we've never met but I genuinely feel it's a pity that you'd feel obliged to sell on your 356 due to whatever dispute in the past. Here's hoping you're only putting your love of the 356 shape, feel, noise, smell, essence on hold and you'll dip back in again in the future.

Still, gotta love an early split bug too..!

I can understand your irritation with some 356 owners, Kevin. Fortunately the 356ers on TheSamba seem to be much more down-to-earth, and have heads that are not grossly over-inflated.

Had the same experience with the type 3 Karmann Ghia crowd. It's a shame, since the crowd is so small. I still own VW's but that was a lesson learned. Hope you enjoy your new acquisition!

It's being shipped from Belgium. Shipper
botched the paperwork the first time around, and it missed
the first boat. Should be loaded soon...man I hope!
I love that it's unique. Canvas tarps drop down on all sides.

I know how it is with a TERRIBLE experience with the "other" folks turned my stomach so bad on the whole crowd. I had some idiot talking about Charlie Sheen and basically how a rare VW is not worth much. There are some real Jerks in the world. Embarassed
