I think I have the 1500/1600 SP & DP stock flow results here somewhere.

I have never flowed the 40 SP.

FWIW, I called CB this afternoon and got flow information on Los Panchitos heads:

.100 lift: 56 CFM
.200 lift: 97 CFM
.300 lift: 130 CFM
.400 lift: 154 CFM
.500 lift: 168 CFM
.600 lift: 174 CFM

Intake port volume: 66 cc
Chamber: 59 cc

In another post, I believe Pat Downs said they'd have a replacement when they ran out of 043 castings.

Question for all you frustrated engineers out there. Is the proper formula to convert 28" flow figures to 25" (for the purpose of comparing apples to apples) as follows:

CFM @ 28" * (√ (25/28 ))= CFM @ 25"

which is the same as:

CFM @ 28" * 0.944911181- CFM @ 25" ?

If it's not, please let me know and I'll delete or edit this post so as not to confuse future searchers. I extrapolated this from information gleaned from a web-search. I ran some conversion numbers from 28" to 25", and they seem close (SWAG method), but I'd like some confirmation of the math. It's been a long time since high-school algebra.

Yes CB is supposed to have a new head by the end of 2014, I would love to see what the prototypes look like.

I used the second formula to convert the DRD data to 25", let me know if there is a more accurate way for the conversion.

Combustion chamber volume is ACTUAL chamber cc not including step volume if present. Step height is measurement is in the adjacent column with total advertised combustion volume listed under the miscellaneous column.

Retail listing is for TWO cylinder heads at current market prices as of Jan 2014



If product manufacturers/distributors have more accurate/updated data please let me know and I will update the listing immediately. Any new products will also be gladly added as they become available.

I have a question about the CB 044.. I've bought a pair, 42/37,5mm valves magnum plus.. are that the ones marked "as cast"
Just wondering.. because it seemes like poor numbers.. Sad
Going to give them some porting and it would be interesting to have some numbers to compare with, without accually having to flowtest them..

the flow numbers listed for the as cast 044 were the ones with the 40x35 valves.

The ones you got have the same ports but with the larger valves and dual springs. Id bet the flow numbers would be very close to the smaller valve heads.

If I was going to do some port work and had the option of having them flowed I would do before and after numbers.

What you have to remember is that these are "advertised" numbers that are given out by the vendor and may not be what you find if you do the testing yourself.

Any flow info on the Bugpack Wedgeports? From the pics on their website the ports look massive....maybe too much for a street car running in the 3500-6000rpm range.

Only whats listed in their ad in HVWs. The ad says to go to the website for a full list of flow numbers but I cant find any.

if you port them you still have nothing to compare them with,they would need to be flow tested to compare them with something else. those heads dont flow for squat as cast. but they can be ported to almost any size engine and application with out welding or worry or being too thin,or intake flange too small&gadget sealing issues.they are a great platform for building off of.
as far as the drd heads go they all list china.....but I seem to remember drd list them usa...??? is that like cast somewhere over the pond&assembled in cali?

and what about cast hear and valves made hear,retainers&keepers made there,studs made by whoo flung wong thong. It would be nice to know where all the parts come from.

The DRD made in the USA heads never came to market, he ended up using RM instead.

wasent longago i saw that add, today infact . creative addvertizing.there seems to be a lot of that...... "built in the usa"

Suggestion:

Why not everyone who is in the process of purchasing "high performance" heads post multiple pics of those heads on this thread for everyone to view and compare. Also maybe a brief discription of the engine/application they are going on.
I would encourage manufacturers and retailers to do the same. Not just what's already on their websites but what ever else they can provide. A one stop place to see all rather than back and forth into multiply websites trying to compare products.
Who has a set of the new Bugpack wedgeports.....I think you should start this off!
Just a thought.

Built yes, just not cast in the USA. CB basically does the same thing but uses castings from an OE foundry in Brazil

If you want built in the USA get MOFOCO heads they do theirs in house.

The port CC numbers are off, as you know, so I'll help a little.

I have cc's the intake runners of a dozen stock 1600 castings from the pile. I did clean the carbon out of the ports mostly, and used a water/glycol mix and a clear plate so as to be somewhat scientific. All were tested with a bugpack ss 35.5 valve.

The smallest were newish mexico 043 and OLD german 311, at about 50-52cc. Ports in these clearly needed some cleanup and matching!

the actual 113 heads were in the middle at 52-53 or so

The largest was 55cc! found in both a virgin 040 and a german 043 -A, and in these the ports looked really clean and sharp.

I am about to order AA Performance Single Port heads and they state that they have STD Combustion Chamber. What would be that chamber size? Would it be the 45cc as the stock SP heads listed at top of chart?

Long time lurker but had to register to post cause I think Im going crazy.

Earlier I was reading this thread because I am putting together parts to build an engine and saw a post by modoc(?) explain that stock 043 heads have different port sizes depending on suffix code

I want to use some rebuilt stock 043 heads for my build but don't want to use the small port versions if possible.

Is there any reason the post has disappeared? I was planning on writing down the codes later but now they are gone.
