G'day, can anyone suggest a supplier for some seat vinyl for my 68 bug? Mine has the basket weave pattern inserts. I'm not happy with the value or quality of the TMI ones so I'm going to have my motor trimmer redo mine from scratch. |

I ordered the TMI basketweave several years ago for my 68 Beetle and it was an almost perfect duplicate of my stock seat upholstery.
Perhaps they've changed the material, if it's not up to snuff anymore? _________________ Neil.

G'day Neil, i used the TMI ones before also. When i fitted mine there was no loop in the ends of the cushions for the steel rod to go to ring staple them together, so i had to take them to a trimmer anyway. For the TMI sets I was just quoted $450 for the front pair and $350 for the rear, by the only retailer i can find with these in stock in red. I have been trying to buy these covers for ages. I dont think TMI are good value at those prices if there are alterations needed. The vinyl is cheap, but the cut and sew is great, they do look good if fitted properly but I will get a better result for that moneyt at my motor trimmer, if i can find the vinyl. |

Hi, just to give you a little insight, our vinyl is 30oz. vinyl. That is the industry standard for all automotive interior manufactures so I'm not sure why you refer to our vinyl as "cheap" As far as the missing listing channel, was this ever brought to our attention to be adressed? The listing channels are sewn closed and must be cut open by the installer. The installation is for a installer with experience, not a first timer. There are tips and trick to get the best results. I do not understand the pricing you were given. Even If we made upholstery in leather it would not cost that much. Red is not a stocking color for most dealers. _________________ Mario De Leon

FWIW, I have TMI seat covers in my '69 and I've very pleased with them. I picekd them up form WolfsburgWest along with their fiber seat pads and the fit and finish are awesome. I opted to change my front seats from the original highbacks to a set of '66 low backs. My car is toga white so the interior is red.
