Just saw stainless steel blades and bumper guards in the classifieds... Is this a long deserved new bumper option? They look beautiful! Anyone checked the fit and finish on these? $700... I wish they weren't on the other side of the world! |

Ah yes, have talked to them before for bumpers but their late KG bumpers weren't the same shape as they would have been going by what people here say about KG and type 3 late bumpers being the same part.
Instead I got NOS rear for $130 and front fully restored for $330. |

I saw how the ad said KG but the look like type 3 ... I have used nos but never had anything chromed. Stainless bumpers would match the ISP stainless body trim nicely.. ... $700 would be worth it to me. |

You could easily pay that and more for an early set restored. It is well worth the money if they are correct. _________________ "What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: 'tis dearness only that gives everything its value. They look like type 3 bumpers to me. And rechroming an original set will cost more than those. I just wonder what shipping would cost? And how they actually fit. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

MB guy discussion about the bumpers they bought from PTT:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/vintage-mercedes-b...etnam.html
The thread in the Ghia forums is discussing several vendors and a few mystery dudes. It seems like everyone likes the way they look and the few people who've bought AND installed them state that they don't fit quite right and some pieces are either too short or too small. The only consistent thing I found is that they ship fast and they look really nice.
It'd be nice to find some stainless steel bumpers...but I think I'm going to keep my original bumpers and get them re-chromed. Proper chrome plating is harder than stainless so it's got that going for it. |

Based on comments in the repro Ghia bumper thread here, I would concerned about how they fit and whether they are the correct shape. |
They are not, got pics with all measurements from the manufacture and they differed from type 3 by a considerable amount.
They would fit KG probably fine, but type 3, the measurements didn't look promising. |

I haven't used the Benz bumpers personally, but I have SEEN them and they are nice... so nice that I'm working with a group of customers on a bulk buy of the Benz stuff.
I think these people are an offshoot of Harrington Group employees. Harrington was the one who pioneered the stainless bumpers and they made some mistakes at first, but swiftly corrected them from what I understand. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Me... With the exception of my '66 Pigalle Variant. Paid $800 for it. ALL of the others were $400, or less! _________________ Phillip Bradfield

My first type 3, a nice 65 square was given to me for free. It needed a lot, but now that I know better, it was foolish to sell it. All original except highback seats, uncracked dash, mint door cards and armrests... and I've been chasing that type of type 3 ever since.
Bummer about the bumpers. I'd shell it out if they were correct, and I don't even own a type 3 right now |

I thought that question implied how much you spend "on" your cars, like parts etc...
as for cars. The least for a car I had intentions for was $1100 nearly 2 years ago, all that time working on it since. Result= got nothing out of it, going to be either sold on ebay or scrapped. Learned my lesson there. Dont buy a car that looks solid and cheap. It means its not solid
the most was the notch at 5k, the best for my money was few moths ago, a almost factory mint VR for 4k.
the cars where I stuffed around and had no intention was a free SB and a $20 fasty with EFI. |
