Just got my final quote from the local chrome shop to repair and replate my bumpers. I whoping $900-1000 for each. So much for staying local.

I am ready to jump at the stainless if those babies fit ok.

I am guessing that mine might be a bit off anyways due to the straightening required so the concern about the SS being a perfect fit is becoming less of a concern for me.

Let us know how they fit.

Those prices sound a lot like they don't want the business. I know of quite a few shops that'll give a Cheech & Chong price because they don't want the job.

This.

Mark Skelton at ogdenchrome just quoted me $450 for each blade with over riders for dents, straightening & triple chrome plate. This is a total price as they pay for Shipping Both Ways.

The guy at the shop was very straight forward on the cost and suggested I get a repro if available as soon as he saw my beat up ones. Mine are bent pretty good. But I agree that his price was a take it or leave it kind of price.

And I did check into sending them to a plater in another state. ISP will take them. And I did look at Ogden but there is quite a bit of bad press on them. The shop in Sacramento gets high marks but they are expensive. I just didn't want the hassle and cost of shipping them back and forth. There is another shop in Portland that I might look into.

I really like the idea of the stainless and if the quality is good and the fit is good I might pull the trigger.

Paulpooted, please be specific on what it took to get yours to fit. And if you can share cost and lead time I would appreciate it.

I agree that maybe the bumper brackets were possible bent. I wouldn't be surprised if mine are.

Mike, I appreciate you calling Ogden. I did read some not so good things about them. Anyone here ever use them?

Finally got these fitted, the front bumpers bolted right up but the overriders seem to have a slight lean to them.

The rear bumper was a differnt story, After much modification to my bumper brackets i got them to fit .

I'll try and post up some pics in the next couple of days.

took a lot of work but still looks better then my bent up stock bumpers

Is it possible that your rear brackets were bent with your old bumper? Just asking, since you re-used them, and had to re-work them to fit.

As for the overriders, did you try swapping sides to see IF that got rid of the lean?

Just asking, as I know others here will want to know (myself included).

it is very possible that the rear brackets are bent. However I really needed to get them on for a few event coming up so I just did what I had to haha.

I've just ordered another set from the classifieds so we will see if that fixes my rear issues.

the overiders seem to only fit one way. but i'll have a closer look and see if it changes anything, may also just be my mind playing tricks on me.

as far as price i dont want to say because idk if they gave me different then normal pricing. So i would say contact PTT for pricing. they got to my house in less then a week.

Cool if the extra holes dont bother you I would sell you this set if they end up fitting proper.

I contacted them yesterday to get a qoute. Got a response right away. Pricing is good. Consistent with what I have seen.

I don't want the extra holes. I told them I would not want them.

Is that why you would sell the ones you got???

I did end up buying the SS bumpers. And I was planning to send a write up once I have them on the car. I did a test fit of the front bumper prior to paint and it looked good. I hope to have them on the car in the next week or two and when I do I will send pictures and do a write up.

Paul's car was shown in another thread (magazine cover). And it looked good. His brackets were bent and he fixed them.

Sorry I havent taken any more pics of the car since I fixed the bracket issues. These bumpers fit very nicely and shine better then any chrome I've seen. If you plan on ordering I would suggest ordering without all the extra holes for fog lights and such.

I'll try to get some more pics soon.

well i purchased a set of these bumpers and was really pleased as to how they fit especially since i ordered an early set of type 3 bumpers but put them on my late model type 3 72 to be specific. They look great after I made a one off set of brackets from an early year fit my late model. I will try and post some pics but wanted to let everyone know I was extremely pleased with the product and in my opinion nothing beats polished stainless steel period

I installed the rear bumper this weekend and it looks good. See picture.

I installed the front prior to paint and it looked great. I will get it installed this week.

Overall very happy with the product and would recommend them. They look good and fit well. Here are some bullets:

1) They come with overriders and a hardware kit. You will need to use their overriders because your originals will not fit. These are hand made bumpers and the overriders are matched to fit. The hardware kit is somewhat useless. Most of the bolts are not correct.
2) They are using a 67 or earlier set as a model. Their model also had fog lights. So you will need to tell them if you don't want the fog light holes which I did and they did not put them in. The rear did not have holes for the backup lights. I drilled them myself. It was easy.

I hope this helps. If anyone has any questions I would be glad to answer any I can.

thanks, that does look really nice. My initial thought with what you posted about the overriders is that it would suck 10 years from now, when you need to replace a dented overridder. Thing is, youd likely have the same problem with re-chromed bumpers if they were hammered, filed, straightened, filed some more, and chromed. That happens all the time with other cars, which is why you give the chromer all the bumper parts at the same time...

Yes, I also was kind of bummed at first but reached the same conclusion. The nice thing about SS is it can be straightened and polished if needed.
