Hi

Does anyone sell pre-cut rubber for trimming the kick panels? I see you can get the floor mat that goes inbetween as a pre-cut item, but can you get matching kick panels?

Also, is there a specific metal trim set for them? Whats the right way to edge them? How does the trim fit?

Thanks for your advice.

I'm guessing you use this?

Something to note about the channel. The illustration and description could be a bit misleading because one might think the "U" in the channel holds the panel. It does not. The channel is mounted with the "U" facing downward and the extra vinyl that extends below the panel back and sides is sandwiched between the bulkhead and the flat part of the channel with rivets. The rubber mat is glued to the bottom of the pedestal and the top of the rubber mat fits into the "U".

And do I buy it and cut it to length? What lengths does it come in?
Also, does anyone do the rubber precut to go around the seat / seatback base?

I bought my surround mats from Wolfsburg West. They come with enough material to trim to fit. Look for the rivit holes surrounding your seat stands, that will give you a great guideline as to where to install the seat stand garnishing. Hope this helps.

I've searched ww high and low and can't find the mat I am looking for. Not looking for the mats that are next to the seats over the wheel wells. Got that covered.

I am looking for the rubber material that is at the floor and covers about the last 6 inches of the seat pedestals. It starts on the sides of the seat pedestals and wraps around through the walk thru area around to the back.

Thanks for your help.

You're both right ^^^. Indeed, West Coast sells the material- and yes, the ribbed rubber "runner" material from Home Depot works and looks the same. In both cases the only thing you lose: color.

Don't panic when cutting the mats into the wraparound shape. Start with rough measurements and make a pattern using magnets and an old sheet.

People only screw this up in two ways: they work too fast, or failed HS Geometry.

The first photo above is (or was) my bus. That is standard Home Depot runner material with the Wolfsburg West aluminum edge trim. If WW is out of stock, the trim is usually available on the Classifieds listings.

Ok I see where the trim piece ends, but what holds the rubber from there forward. The picture below is the best I could find but it's not clear as to whether there is a continuation of the u channel welded to the seat pedestal going forward of the trim.
Thanks

There is a factory rolled flange welded to the seat pedestal.

I'm hoping that some one with a walkthru bus can help me out.

I need a guide on how far the slight bend downward is from the end of the trim that touches the flange welded to the seat base.

Unfortunately, I'm missing some guide holes along that section so don't have an original guide to follow.

Thanks for your help.

For anyone interested in doing this, I've just completed one side.

I bought the seat back covers from Sewfine as part of the interior. The covers were challenging to fit, the passenger side one in particular as the seam was very stiff and it was difficult to get the stitching to run straight. It OK, not perfect.

You can see the stitching isn't so straight in the picture above.

The next big job was to bend the metal trim from WW. Its stainless and a complete PITA. Its hard and difficult to work with, we had to snip it to assist with the bend, panel beat it to straighten it and insert some wire into the trim to stop it closing when we bent it. Of course the wire wont come out, so it means that the rubber has to be trimmed especially in that area.

As its so hard to work with, I ditched the idea of following the original trim line and just made it a horizontal split. Its fine, there are no trim panels going on the back of them as they'll be a camping interior in there coverng the back of both of them anyway

The rubber stand mats I bought are for LHD vehicles, so I had to make a new set using the WW ones I'd bought as templates. It was really hard to get them to sit well around the bend due to the distortion of the trim. It looks a little rucked up under it, but its actually the trim causing a small protusion. Anyway, it can stay. I'm not that anal about these things..

On the whole, I'm pretty pleased with that side and dreading doing the passenger side trim and rubber. Rolling Eyes
