Very nice!
Just to follow up on an earlier comment, I agree with thinking twice or three times about the safari windows. Driving through a rain squall in the summer time can be a real challenge with a wall of water leaking in around the safari seals. I used to drive with at least a roll of paper towels at the ready just in case. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Thanks for the input jdot. Yeah I have since reconsidered and I am going with fixed windows. Kenshapiro2002 is a local guy outside of Baltimore and he has graciously offered to give me a set of aftermarket fixed windshields so it looks like I am set. I might just sell the 1 original Sekurit glass if these are doable. _________________ Shadetree Westy

Alright... I'm confused. If you have some OG Sekurits, why you wanna use my non OG glass? _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

Finally got to weld the outside perimeter of the floor. Still left is the area around the ebrake and shifter and the center section on the driver side. I need to think some more on the best way to hold it tight.
For what I've welded so far, I used a mix of clecos and sheet metal screws. Let me know what you think.
Hipster cam
I've owned this panel since May. Feels amazing to have it in place. _________________ Shadetree Westy

Yeah...getting that floor in felt incredible for me! Like I said, I used the sheet metal screws everywhere. Hey... lunch meet-n-greet with the developers of the Chesapeake method of welding in just a few hours! _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

Yes thanks for the tip on the sheet metal screws! Huge difference, like you said I could not have imagined this job without those.
Yep meet and greet in a few, just gotta pull the oval out and get moving. We'll discuss the pros (obviously no cons) of the Chesapeake Method. _________________ Shadetree Westy

Finally able to finish up the remaining welds on the floor. Ken Shapiro thanks again for the tip on the sheet metal screws. The only way.
Ground down all the welds
Patched a section behind the rear seat.
Officially done the major work in the cab. I have some very small patches left on the b-pillars then I can start moving to the rockers, etc.
Time for a beer, big hurdle having that floor done.

I am headed out to look at a potential project this am. Currently I have a single cab and a double cab within a reasonable drive from me that are for sale. Reading this thread is definitely inspiration. Makes me believe I can definitely make some progress on small patchwork. I'll leave the heavy lifting to the pros like you. Keep up the great work and keep posting. |

Thanks I really appreciate those kind words.
Of course you could handle this stuff. You either have to be too cheap to hire a pro or determined to do it yourself, but it helps to be both! So did you buy one of those trucks? _________________ Shadetree Westy

Now I'm doing all the small boring stuff, but closer to finishing the cab area.
I had to patch an area on the seat pedestal and b-pillar that holds the door weatherstripping. This truck sat for a long time with no windows.
Here is the spot
Seat pedestal patched
Luckily I saved scraps from the Gerson a-pillars and realized the pressing is the same, so I separated it from the pillar and cut to length. I am sure tons of other people are in this same scenario so take note to save ALL your Gerson scraps cause you never know

Thanks man appreciate that.
The nose has been bothering me with it not lining up so i grafted in a section of the original nose. Hindsight, next time I will do a lower nose differently by keeping the V in tact.
In this first pic you can see the misalignment on the driver side.
Next was the b pillar on the driver side. This WW dogleg was really made wrong. The inner dogleg doesn't even make it to the pillar!
First I made a template to repair the pillar. I had cut away the rusted section many months ago.
Next I added a section to the dogleg to mate with the pillar.
Once that was welded in place I had to fix the vertical seal holder. I still had a scrap left from my Gerson a-pillar which matched the profile
I primed it just to see where I was with the grinding. Still needs a little touch up but way better then before. I also repaired both b pillars on the inside of the cab, though I didn't take a pic. I just be slippin.
