oh, and just driving it for the last week, i have had it consistently pop out of gear when decelerating in first, like as i leave the stop sign a block from the driveway and roll into the driveway (all downhill) itll pop out pretty violently...so i stopped doing that...and between first gear and second, i can almost never get a smooth shift in so im guessing the transmissions gonna need a fresh overhaul someday.......yay! .....itll be fine ffor now, but thought i would note it.
one week to the day tomorrow since first drive! (second startup) since i had it! no major issues yet, and the heat is working fantastic! i gotta read the owners manual and learn where all the electrics are and what not.
had a lady give me her number to call her for parts...she said she had a 71 red square in her driveway for parts.... some random lady and her husband at a stop light! go figure. tons of comments and love the attention its gettting for sure! gotta get some wax n such and give it some love asap....

this ones staying stock as itll be a daily and may end up being my moms little project car (since me n dad have busses, she absolutely wants one for herself... )
its got air shocks in the rear though! i can lift it all of an inch and a half!
I need to get four new shocks...i dont like the air.
i like how it drives and ill be doing my best to keep it original and stock and running down the road. i got my bus for offroading and adventures. more ground clearance and better sleeping accommodations. _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

just clocked in my route for the day, since i have no odometer at the moment, i just tracked where i went and mapped it from home. i took a 79.6 mile route out to monroe, down to redmond, and back home. used up 3.5 gallons of gas, and that was with a bit of messing around in monroe too! not bad! thats right around 25-26 MPG!~!
in other news....i found out what my buzzing noise was yesterday... _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

I dig that light bar, I expect to see one on yours soon.
Also I can only imagine the smell of your generator. Probably smells like, blue. _________________ Wash your hands

An arcing generator is pretty run- of- the mill. Doubt it's your problem.
Did you get any bucking or other symptoms when you got the noise? Is the gen light on? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Stuartzickefoose. Looks like a modified early bus bumper. Josey sells something called boatyard buses. Maybe a little retro fit on Moms car to aid in night time driving _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

I got some light bucking at low cruise speeds...but it was barely noticeable.
At this point, i will rebuild the spare i got and see whats what after some new brushes. _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

Sounds like a standard bus owner reply. And in case the hammer doesn't fix it, it must be an electrical problem. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

so go to hang out with mom last week
we took the square on a little cruise to look at some houses...and that evolved into a 200 mile road trip around the north end area....
broke down when a wire fell off my fuel pump which is still way to low for even the tall grass i drove through apparently...got it taken care of....
got some sweet barn shots with moms phone, mine wouldnt take a night picture for anything
thats the moon actually...:
gettin gas:
sorry for the blurry pics...but it was all we had with us. _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

been daily driving the squareback and lately had a fuel pump issue with it cutting in and out...
so i pulled the wires off the relay and tried to bypoass it to solve the issue...no go...
well, after leaving the wires connected all night last night my battery went dead (go figure)....
so i got out the spare battery and went to install the spare while i charge my regular one, and found the positive cable totally loose as far as the screw was concerned. the cable sat tight enough it would start, or try to, but the hot wire that i assume runs to the fuel pump was totally just flopping around under the seat. so i put the relay wiring all back to normal, and will tighten it back up when i put the regular battery back in.
for now, it appears my generator is charging fine, and the regulator is new and properly grounded....i think the whole issue was this loose wire.
still gotta fix the brakes, waiting on another paycheck or two for that, plus the house just sold, so ill be out on november 7th with mom n dad so no big projects till we settle in after that. ill be staying close by for work, so i wont be going very far away.
in other news, Ruby is quickly becoming the name of the squareback...its got a sweet ring to it...
the alternative is Yugo ...but moms not digging that name as much. _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

You-go-Ruby. has a nice ring to it. Looks good, maybe with all the hitting of the voltage regulator you loosened the battery cable. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |
