Body number 115196 is also May 50 so that ties up. I cannot read the vin plate clearly - what does it say int he top left box - that might tell you whether it is a deluxe or not - it says 11 but are there any other letters after 11?

The engine is definitely not the original as has a bolt in generator stand.

There is a load of work to do on the car so maybe make an offer of about $4k to reflect that - parts for this will set you back a lot of money - trust me I am experienceing the pain for mine Smile a May 1950 engine block (just the block with nothing in it or on it) could set you back $1k, popes nose $3-500 rear lights a few hundred... you get the picture...

Good luck, Dave

Good luck. As for buying parts, it depends what you need - most parts can be found from advertisers or private sellers here on the Samba. Keep the thread going and you'll be able to highlight parts you are missing more specifically and hopefully people can point you inthe right direction. Klassic fab, autocraft, wolf and Mika Virtanen do some excellent repro panels but are not the only options.

Cheers,

Dave

Everything in your list is incorrect for a May 50 car but as it all works and drives you don't need to be in a rush to change it...

Try searching in the classifieds:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search

You want a full batwing like this: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1563944

I think this one is the right colour - the ivory ones are 52-55 I believe but I could be wrong.

not a semi batwing like this: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1538605

This is the style of horn push you need, not the later ribbed style:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=361313

Check out pictures in the gallery to see what is correct and then search the classifieds. There are a few good books out there too which tell you what is correct.

Good luck,

Dave

Iīm not sure also.
There is a trim hole visible at the front hood where the paint is off.
There seems to be a trim hole visible at the door where the surface is cracked. There are trim frames around the glove boxes and the pods.
The pods switches, the e-brake tip, the interior light are white.
Trim around the windshield.
Looks all to be black overpainted deluxe stuff and closed trim holes all around.
