Nobody seems to have picked up, or at least mentioned, that the M 010 code relates to an engine compartment Dust Filter, something much needed in sandy Egypt! I remember that in Luxor, the old Peugot taxis didn't have windscreen wipers, as they never need them!
Having been to Eygpt a few year ago, I'm amazed that this car has survived, so is deserving of sprucing up. Are you able to get 15" wheels in Egypt? Are you able to ship from the UK if we can get some sorted out? |
indeed it is dust filter! and u r right it is one of a very very few splits that survived in Egypt where most of them have gone beyond repair or restoration! _________________ - Split De luxe 1950

It certainly is remarkable that this example survived. When I was in Egypt back in 2000 I saw a 1958 in central Cairo traffic which still had one original tail light intact. I thought that was remarkable enough. _________________ 1962 1/2 Australian Made Beetle

Unless you find somebody to write to the Stiftung AutoMuseum in German and point out the inconsistencies with the word "everage/average", most likely they will not understand your issue. Dr. B. Or just send my comments above and see what the Museum's reaction is.

Do u consider this degree of brown dark? Would u suggest a lighter version? _________________ - Split De luxe 1950

nice work so far!
Thinking about the paint color... oh yeah, now the party has really started
It's fairly hard to say whether your brown on the tail light comes close to the original color chestnut brown (L73) from just looking at a photo, but I do like your color. _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

Fantastic! You've really invested lots of effort to bring the body back, and the color looks great- "rich milk chocolate". Looking forward to your updates on assembly, and running again. |
