Thank you Rose Wink

********************

I guess it will be hard to have a picture of an original 50-51 front floor but we never know... if someone has one ?

I realized the hole to pass the main harness through the floor will not be used (it goes through the roof).
So obviously the hole should not be here and I guessed that the middle recess should be longer....
I did the modification, but if a picture show me it is different I will do it again Confused

Here is the before and after pictures :

I won't be able to work on the bus until wednesday, but I think I will put the body back on the chassis soon after Smile
Lots of work left then, but it should be very motivating to see it "in one piece" Smile

Cheers,
Florian

This is truly AMAZING!
This bus stood about 20-30km away from where I live. It's nice to see that you still can make these kind of finds in 2013.

Sorry, Florian...

The left one is about 160mm, the middle one is about 130 and the right one is about 145mm long.

I can´t remember the VIN, but it´s manufactured around july-october 1951

Thank you !

No big update as I am still waiting for an important Gerson part, but that should arrive soon now, so then i can move one. The bus will not make it to BenPon though.... Sad

While waiting for the bulkhead panel, I did some work here and there and I will post some pictures later. But to begin, here is a great discover we did with my friend Yann while getting the front doors back to OG paint.

The bus was logo’d and this lettering indicates that it was originally owned by a brewery company called « Aktiebolaget Stockholms Bryggerier », who produced beer until 1980.
That’s an awesome discovery, which couldn’t have been done in the case of a full paint restoration where you just sand all the paint without carrying attention about the original one ! Idea

Then I've had the reg. papers who confirm the history of the bus.
The brewery bought the bus new in 1951 and sold it in 1956 to a fire equipment company. Then it's have been sold again in april 1958 and again in september 58 to the father of the guy who sold the bus to me.

Here are some documents I found about the brewery, but i will go to stockholms archives to investigate a bit more and try to find some pictures with the barndoor.
Of course i will load up the bus with correct wood crates :

We can still find some nowadays...

We can even find old bottles

Maybe the barndoor was loaded up somewhere around here ?

Not that much to show, but I will post some pictures of the bus soon.
Cheers
Florian

Hi there !

Here is a little update on the build. Wink
I finished to work on the chassis by repairing the panel on front of the front beam :

Then it was time to re-assemble body and chassis :

Then i've seen that the left corner had already been changed in the past and the repair was visible... so I had to do it again. But the old corner was too damaged to be repaired, so i replaced it by a NOS corner.

I also decided that the right corner was too damaged to be kept, so here we go.... 2 NOS corners fitted as well as a new rear panel without window :

Here is the result with all the engine bay repaired with new battery trays...Etc

Of course i modified the corners to be "barndoor correct", with a 50-52 barndoor recess on the left side :

and the barndoor specific straight lip that goes on the mud panel. On 85 barndoors at the BenPon show only a few had this correct detail (mostly OG ones)... Sad :

I also filled the 2 hacked windows on the long side panel :

And replaced the bottom of the short longside panel :

The long side rocker is not welded yet :

Recently I received my bulkhead panel. So after removing the top rib that shouldn't be here on a 51, i put it in place :

It allowed me to test fit the NOS B pillar and work on the door gaps :

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then I took a complete afternoon getting 3/4 of the roof back to OG paint :

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And this week I welded the rear floor....

Still "a bit" of work on the front end.... but the metal work should be all sorted out for early june Smile

I also began to work on some parts so then I can re-assemble the bus asap :

Sandblasting :

Front seat by Fabrik interior :

restoration of an OG paint dashboard :

Repaired with a piece of OG dove blue metal and loaded up with a 50-51 specific speedo and more nice stuff :

More to come in the next months !!
Cheers
Florian

Florian, your attention to detail is amazing and the fact that it has come this far in this period of time is awesome. Keep up the good work. Cool

Awesome! So you're not going to repaint the whole bus? It doesn't look like there's much left!
