Did you clean or replace #19 fuel filter? You will need new gaskets as well.

Yes. I replaced that filter and the gasket. The only thing that I cannot find that's on the drawing is the #16. The guy said I can reuse it. So I soaked it on soap water and used soft brush. It didn't look brand new but it was still look ok.

Lets peak at front for a second. What's going there. Well, I scored this custom made bumper at the swap meet and tried it on.

I like it because it's a lot stronger than the OEM. I can also put some accessories like tow receiver, etc. And, it's different.

But the "BOSS" was not happy, so off it went.

I've always thought the front early bumper needed strengthening. Something like that would be great to put behind the og blade.

My builder said they already did the 2k break-in. So I drove her and found a couple of hills 20 min away from my house. Drove her up the hill, down hill, up again. It was not a busy street so I abled to shift on different gears at different RPM (making sure not over rivving or lugging). And then went back to base when I was satisfied.

When I reached the 100 miles on the odo, I changed the engine and tranny oil. But while all those were happening, I noticed that every time I drove her for a few minute and shut it off, she will not start again until the engine gets cold. So I called the builder and told him what's going on. He asked me how was my set up. I told him one thing that I did was put a hard line from tank to carb (not all the way of course, some were rubber). So he said "Vapor lock". So I think, possibly. So I went and bought a hose that's for fuel injection, EXPENSIVE but I told O'reily to give me the best fuel line they have.

After Installing the hose which didn't make a difference, I noticed a different noise coming from the engine. So I investigate And didn't like the noise that I was hearing. KNOCKING, coming from the right side of the engine. I got home and opened the right valve cover, What the #%ег! Oil came down pouring. I went further more, found that one rocker arm was loose, very loose! Took it off, and saw the push rod collapsed.Shocked Shocked Shocked So I put it back together and I called my "PRO" builder. I told him what happen and he told me to bring it in. So I towed the poor Tootsie to his shop.

Img53: I also told him about the starting problem Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The next day I got a call from the guy telling me that they needed to drop the motor and he'll just call me back when it's ready. I thought, NO, NO ,NO. I already saw how that goes. So I headed back there and towed back Tootsie home without her heart. I was not gonna let her just sit there lonely😢.

When we got home I took off that custom made bumper that wasn't approved by the Quality Control Embarassed Embarassed (AKA "the BOSS"). Is there anything I can do for front bumber to make it stronger.? Idea Idea Idea And here's what I came up with;

Img53: I don't have a pipe bender but I have a chop saw. So to get the angle that I need, I cut the beam (I think it was a 1/4" thick beam, it was heavy) but not all the way through and welded it back.

Color sanding wasn't that bad but I'm sure my wife doesn't want to hold another sand paper again in few years😈😈😈

Ok, now let's see the finished front bumper.

Img56:

If you look closely you'll also see a set of E-code H4 Headlight from Bus Depot. I really wanna see where I'm going so I installed a relay for low beam and another for high beam. Why??? You asked. Because I installed a 90/100 watts bulb on them, DANGGGG!!! Those are really bright Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

And then powder coated wiper arms, clear turn signal lenses.

Of course I will not forget the "uhuberprized" front grill trim and SS Antena from WW.

And lastly, the finishing touch, THE EMBLEM😃😃😃

Looking great after that color sanding!

I hope your engine turns out ok.

Why black wiper arms instead of the stock brushed aluminum?

He called me after a week, so I went there and pick it up. He told me I could have just towed the bus again and they can installed the engine back. Nice gesture but I said no thanks. I don't trust them. And I just want to get the hell out of there.

I forgot what he told me (or I just didn't care anymore) but he said they had to open it up again. And he told me that the starting problem was also gone. Ok, I said. So after I installed it, yes the knocking was gone but a little bit of oil still coming out from that valve. I think it's coming out from the pushrod o-ring. But it was a lot less than before so I didn't bother to call him again. And about the starting problem, I stil had it. But I found what was the problem, it was the cheap elec ignition (China) he used in the 009 Dizzy. So I replaced the whole dizzy into a brand new SVDA BROSOL that I bought in Mexico (which I later found out it's another China made, oh well). I also replaced the black coil to the blue coil. After that, the bus ran good and my flat spot was gone. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I like that look too. Mine were rusting, I thought they were aluminum? I was going to sandblast and clear coat them, but now I think I'll do black.

Thanks blue72. Will you powder coat it too or spray? I did mine in gloss but if I'll do it again I think I'll like it flat better.
