I love them all. I only have a 166N and 190L. The 168N looks like a great unit, would love to add one of those to the garage. And the cabinet is fantastic too, of course. Again, all very nice! |

I can buy more items of the 166/168 if I would have the space. They're pretty cheap over here. Too bad shipment is so expensive otherwise I would buy another one for you |

Okay, thanks! I think I have to let the new one rust some time to make it look old like this one |

Well, today I called the lock smith to check if the work on my lock/key was ready, but it turned out that the missing parts in the lock could not be replaced, so they couldn't help me
So, I bought a blank key that fitted the lock and had a vintage design.
I customised the lock and key, so the key can be used as a locking knob. The disadvantage is that the key cannot be removed and will stay permanently in the lock. That's also an advantage because the key cannot be lost again!

New sliding rails are on their way from Germany to replace the worn out/broken ones on the drawers of my Hazet 168N:

So, next was the 168N. The sliding mechanism of the rails of one drawer was missing, so that drawer wasn't sliding smoothly and also dropped out of the Assistent
Is received 4 pairs of which I already replaced this worst drawer.
Stuff needed (grinder, rivet pliers and rivets 4mm):
Old and new!

Started the renovation of the '76- Hazet 152.
Removed a couple of stickers to reveal the original color:
And also found a sealed plastic bag with (probably) the original lock and 3 keys for the front lid:
It says 'SUL'. Familiar to anyone?
Next thing is rust removal. I decided to bring it so a company that has a acid tank. The only way to remove the rust on the inside, because the drawers are welded and cannot be removed. |

Got the table top toolbox back from the company.
It was treated as follows:
-Bath with hydrochloric acid (de-rusting)
-Powerwashed with water
-Bath with phosphate solution (rust prevention)
The result :
The drawers are now opening easier and the complete inside is derusted and treated to prevent for further oxidation. This was the only way because (like said before) the drawers are welded and could not (easily) be removed.
Now it needs to dry for a couple of days (takes a while with the cold weather at the moment). |

FYI: Oxalic acid is used for rust removal. That's what is in naval jelly and similar products.
Hydrochloric is very strong and can over etch the metal.
A pro knows when to yank it out, a DIYer may ruin the piece. And you don't want it on your body, you'll get burned.
Oxalic acid is cheap, if you can't find it labeled as that, it's sold as deck brightener. Mix a saturated solution and soak your pieces in it. Won't hurt you if you splash yourself, and almost impossible to over soak anything.
Good luck! _________________ ________________________________________

First picture of the finished restoration of the Hazet 152:
The front lid needed welding due to the bad condition, but was too unpratical to use on my workbench, so I decided not to restore/use it on this toolbox. |

Gave the Hazet 100 also a good clean inside and put it up on the wall. Man, it was dirty after a life of 62 years
