I keep my drip pan in the bed, and so far it hasn't flown away. Yet. The gates are only 12-13 inches high, so there isn't much there for the air to circulate.

I think I'm going to get discs up front before lsd, they seem to be about the same price. I still need to get my bed and cab divider welded shut. That breeze is very strong

That's my question too.

Also what's the path of the oil? Out the engine through the filter then the cooler and back to the engine? Or cooler then filter? That filter holder only has one in and one out, not dual sides? It doesn't look like your running a t-stat, so the oil is constantly moving through the cooler regardless of the oil temp? What's that fitting on the cooler with the wires coming out of it? How is the fan operated? Is it run off a switch on the dash or does it automatically come on at a certain temputure? It's looking a lot better then before, nice work.

Weeeeeellll, right now the carb is the biggest choke point because the jets are off so the tuning is not really helping me. I have a few oil leaks, but not from anywhere serious. The breather helped a lot with the pressure problem.

oil is running how it should, t-stat is hidden in the picture. out the motor, into the t-stat, out to the cooler, passes through an in-line t-stat which triggers the fan and then back through the t-stat and into the motor. So it's all automatic and I'm yet to see the fan turn on. I check the temps and it never really gets over 180 at the cooler.

Sorry to hear you are having case pressure issues. I was worried about that too, but luckily I had a dual vent oil filler built before I had any issues. It looks like you are running the pressure back into one carb, you can always tap the other carb if necessary.

I've been looking at all the engine pics, all the way back to page seven. It looks to me like you do not have any sort of engine seal installed. I also notice you have yet to install the fresh air hoses, they would help move a lot more air.

Engine seal in the rear that is useless because there are giant holes cut out next to the cylinders.

I have the hoses that connect the hose to the body, I also have the hose from shroud to boxes. I just have absolutely no idea how to install the damn levers. So literally that is just me being a little lazy right now.

I dropped off the truck at B&R to rejet and tune up the motor and he gave me some great news. Apparently there is about a pound of dirt in the gas tank. I'll have to take a picture of my fuel filter, and you'll see why my old jets were completely clogged.

Woohoo! So I get to take my gas tank out and get it tanked and coated.

Rhetorical question: Is it worth it to just re-do mine, or is it possible to find a replacement ABS tanks?

Also which mods should I do while I have the tank out? I remember there being one about an electric cutoff solenoid. I think I want to do that.

Well managed to get the tank out. It's a bitch getting them out of trucks, but netter than dropping the motor.
I need to do some cleaning.

You know Brian, that looks like a failed attempt to seal the tank.
Good Luck

Why? I have one in my bus because the tank is so high and I had problems with it. But the tank in the SC should be lower than your carbs so you'd have no siphoning.

Same reason I have AN lines for my oil lines and a battery cable clamp that has a voltmeter on it. Over engineering.

I need to do some cleaning.

I think that getting the fuel tanks out of pickups is relatively easy. Definitely better than going out the back way over the engine.

My god -- that tank is dis-frickin-gusting! It's amazing to see how awful it can get. Lots of dirt, but no rust? If there's no rust, I guess it's worth cleaning up and refurbishing. It will feel so good to have a nice clean tank in a nice clean space. Speaking of which, now you get to experience the joy of climbing back in there and giving that entire under-bed space a good cleaning! Be sure to wear your PPE -- and let someone know where you have gone. It is not a pleasant space, for sure. I hope you are not claustrophobic!

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Wink

if you go a few pages back I already got that experience. I had two fans blowing, one of them was white and is now brown. But I don't think I'm going to do that in the tank compartment. It's rusted out a little under the tank so I'm going to replace that.

I had my engine out at the same time. Used a pressure washer and wet/dry vac to get rid of all the crap that collects there. Found lots of clogged drain holes. Its amazing how much wasted space there is between the tank and the engine compartment. Probably could rig an additional gas tank if needed.
have fun.
