The full flow filter mount center piece sets up in the housing far enough to restrict flow. Good thing to go over all of the fittings and make sure there is not a flow problem.

cleaning up the fittings to flow better

The inlet was restrictive. It hit a wall and had a deep bore with a small outlet. I opened it up and smoothed the transition.

also smoothed out the outlet side of the housing

now the kit comes with a brass tee that need to be opened up quite a bit. so take it over to the drill press and enlarge the cross section.

While at it port the piece a bit for better flow

I have the same problem with this piece as I did with the filter adapter. when the pieces are screwed together there is a blockage.

yes they all should be ported&polished just like a cylinder head port, not just removing the portion in the way,but porting the corect contour also. Ive pulled appart expensive big engines with less the a 1/4" hole in the cheepass fittings....no wonder it had less than a thousand miles when it came to me.Ive seen many like that. just be sure your not going to far & weekening the fitting, that can be a dissasster.(seen that too)
