Now that its winter and most of the campgrounds are closed, does anyone know of any areas to van camp near Hood River, OR? I usually go to Tucker Park and camp but they have locked the gate. Every area I have looked up seems to be closed. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Its time to get out of Portland for a weekend or two!
Cheers
Alex

continue up towards Lost Lake and on the way up to Lost Lake take the turnoff for Whatum Lake. The turnoff is clearly marked on Lost Lake Road, however, the site may be closed due to snow? We have had really warm temps this winter so it may be passable still...

There is also free camping near the Bonneville Dam (on the island just below)and some other areas. This should give you quite a few options Wink These are great links but I always get lost as every click takes you to a new page. If you see something you like, bookmark it.
