Wow!
What's it cost to have that much work done? I figured it would never be economical to do all the rust repair on my own September '52 11C |
Probably Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfield pockets needed! |
LOL Its not that bad man... These cars are worth a ton and when treated rite will not just be amazing to own and drive but an investment as well.
Often more times then not when a client brings me a car its one they are totally in love with and have had it forever and or spent a life time chasing it. its a hobby of passion. Folks love this stuff and this stuff loves them. money is fleeting and you cant take it with you when you die. Enjoy life, be responsible, but Enjoy it!

Trust me, I get the passion for these cars and the investment aspect. Certainly with a split. Lord knows I throw enough $ at my VW's..
I was doing some math in my head. 200 hours of your work equates to $12k. I have to agree with the caliper of work you due, you need to raise your rates!
Keep up the great work! |
Have a affordable rate stay working..... Have i am the best of the best sometimes you don't have work. I have been in biz for almost 22 years and have changed my prices a few times and have done this test. I always tell people... I am going to take a shower with you not a bath...LOL Plus!!! They keep coming back.... I cancelled all my adds... Think about it. _________________ Ethan

We touched on that subject that last time we talk in the phone. I totally agree, I'm content staying affordable, I love what I do and want it to be available to just about anyone. Thanx for the support E. _________________ ⚒ Believe In The Power Of Positive Thinking ⚒

hi Jason,
I have been following some of your work over the years and you have talent for sure and you get my respect hands down .
I know what your saying on the shrinker/stretcher and yes I would love one but I am not a business just some guy doing my restoration .. the problem I have is I have put EVERYTHING into this project financially I even gave up buying my house to continue with the project I out laid so much money on building a garage on a friends land buying a 3 phase compressor, air dryer, blasting cabinet, mobile blaster, welder, basic tools etc etc so I was in it for near 10k before I started so some tools had to give .i use the basic tools I have and try and do the best I can with what I have if I had all the tools I wanted and a fully fitted workshop then yes my work would be better and i would be like a pig in shit ....first stop would be a tig welder less heat, less grinding and again less heat, stronger welds etc plus you save money on discs and belts,i would also use zintec metal I hope to go that way in the future with my projects
I have not used lead or solder on those repairs the dark areas is just weld NOT a filler... problem with lead is that it has to be clinc clean afterwards otherwise it rusts like a MF!.its VERY time consuming as you know yourself to heat/shrink and get panels straight for a invisible metal repair not only that I use a steel ruler on ALL repaired/welded areas and bend the ruler to shape of panel to check for high and low spots its very important to do so as you have to think of the bodywork stage no good having high spots that need beating in or pinging panels.
keep up the good work and posting as every days a school day for me aswell and I am always trying to learn new tricks/ideas. _________________ DBKUK |

Your results are excellent Andy. We are a lot alike in the way we use the tools we have. For a very long time I did everything by hand with wood , hammers, pipes, just about anything that would work. And I still do at times thr are so many more tools I want. I'm very blessed to have two metal mentors that have helped me tremendously and allow me access to their shops until the day I can afford to by the tools for myself. Another thing we have in common is I also plan to by a tig machine soon. On my list of dream tools tho is a PulMax and a ProSpotter. Hopefully someday.
Keep up the Fantastic Fab skills, and thank so much for the support and feedback. _________________ ⚒ Believe In The Power Of Positive Thinking ⚒
