Im excited to be back working on the Split this week. yesterday I did some more demo, hammer and dolly work as well as edge prep and clean up. im also whittling down some of the donor metal to get sent out to blast/prime. today is a bit more demo and prepare to put the heater channels in permanent place. Very Happy

It's really too bad all these photos will be unavailable at some point for future viewers.

yesterday went well...

Im real pleased with the Gerson heater rails. Today I will finalize the location on them. When I left off last night they were good, side to side, front to back, and now I will lock them in top to bottom. Once they are accurate and welded in place, I will begin to fill in everything around them.

Yesterday I got the heater rails in a final position and fixed into place, then I moved onto the cross member sections were I ran into a discrepancy with the reproduction of one of the short cross members. as you will see in the photos it was produced about a 1/4 inch shy of its intended og design. I will have to get it replaced or reworked here in the shop. at first I thought I had a issue with the heater rail alignment Shocked (I was happy to find out that was not the case at all.)

In the meantime, I moved from that area up to the front of the car witch is were I will begin again this morning


I also harvested some donor metal from some of my "Donor Stock"

This is a collective experience. I'm still fairly new to the restoration scene and look up to and rely on many different influences. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for folks like Wolf, Gerson, Mika and other manufacturers of custom and production sheet metal parts. I'm fascinated by the dedication and Innovation of these pioneers. Very Happy Much like my own recreated parts they are not perfect every time and need to be reworked, in defense of myself and any of the mentioned above, Im grateful for my gifts and gifts of those that allow me to succeed in my dream and the dreams of my clients Cool

As long as folks continue to rebuild cars and folks continue to recreate quality parts, it's a win win situation collectively
