Phone these guys and have them mail you a crapload of maps and brochures: http://www.hellobc.com/ If they give you grief I'll go raid the tourist centre down the road and ship you a pile O' reading material including places to hike and maps. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

yes, we've been on that website thanks.
We are excited - our bus is in motion towards the mechanic who will give it a thorough check. The trip is coming together finally, 12 more sleeps!

Thanks, yes we've made some contacts in BC and AB and hope to connect with some folks along the way as time permits. It truly is amazing how great the VW community can be, samba friends whom I've not met in person are offering generous assistance in preparing the van for the trip, running us around to get licenced etc. Thanks so much everyone, you know who you are |

Well tomorrow is the big day. Sounds like the bus is ready for us and we are ready for it. Hopefully we can fit all our stuff in the bus, sure seems like a lot of stuff, 5 people for 3 weeks. We are going to know each other really well by the time we get home |

Well made it to the west coast. Grabbed a hotel room and we are off to pick up the bus in a few hours!
I forgot how much I hate leaving every time I come here. |

Well we got her and she is a beautiful beast! Here is Chris (vwboop)on the right, our incredibly generous chauffeur, who ran us around after taking the day off to do so. Our other savior was Mark (busdaddy) on the left, bus mechanic extraordinaire who gave our bus some needed tlc such as caliper rebuilds, tune up work, brake hoses and new fuel lines. We owe you guys so much and cannot thank you enough, these folks epitomizes what it means to be a part of the bus community. Chris's beautiful wife Gina toured my wife to grocery stores and made her feel welcome while Chris took me to the license and insurance place and helped get us from the hotel to our beast of a bus. It was a great day meeting people I have only emailed with before and seeing their vws! An amazing start to our trip!
The bus is running great thanks to Mark and we are now on the ferry to Vancouver Island to visit family for a few days.

It was so great to finally meet you and your awesome family in person today Eric! As you already know that bus may look a little odd outwardly but down deep it's super solid and aside from a little shelf wear it's far from a beater, sometimes it's nice to have one that's not a museum shiny piece and a little added scratch or kiddie spill is no big deal, that's an action bus in the fullest sense of the word!
You guys are in for the adventure of a lifetime, glad I could help in a small way!

If you are going to spend a few days on Vancouver Island, then why not come to Nanaimo on Sunday July 29th. Our local VW club is putting on our annual show that day from 11 to 3. Located at the RONA parking lot. This is a very laid back show and is absolutely FREE! Good luck with your travels! _________________ 1974 "Restfalia" Camper 2000 cc EFI 2001-
