I picked up a parts car (engine, transmission, glass, an extra transmission, etc.) and found that it has factory A/C.
Is pulling all that out worth my time, or does it go to the crusher with the carcass once I'm done picking?
Thanks for any feedback. |

I have a meeting with the North Alabama VW Group tonight, and when I get home it will probably be too dark, but I will see what I can do to get a good picture of that bracket, if it's still there.
As for the body of the car, well, it's just holes and rust, held together by some magical unicorn's field of binding. But there are plenty of goodies inside, and having the two extra transmissions and an extra engine were worth it for me.
There is also a lot of good glass on this that I won't need. (I have a sedan and this is a wagon.) I thought the windshield was good, but there is a small fracture in the top corner that was revealed only after I cleaned off the funk.
There are two good headrests, though, so that's a plus |

It's the one on the left. I got the gauges and headrests from the one on the right. And mine has a roof rack, which I forgot about.
I went down on Saturday and picked over the one on the right, which was missing an engine but still had the transmission (which I took), and loaded the one on the left on my trailer and came home. About 45 minutes or so drive. |

I also got an original radio. I don't know if it works yet. Work really gets in the way of all my fun.
I can get you some lenses, about half were good, and half were not. |

My Type 3 had a/c installed 3 years after purchase, but it was removed several years later. I wish it still had it, so yours is definitely a score! You'll have to have new hoses made for sure, but that's not a big deal. Also today's compressors are much more efficient, so that's a plus (although yours may still be ok, which would save some cash). _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

Yes, thank you for that. I really don't plan on moving the A/C to my car, but that's good to know for the next owner. |
