The time is finally here, it's vacation!!! I just finished loading up the bulk of our gear in The Bone Bus. We are hoping to leave tomorrow morning around 8am, it's a 500 mile trip there. Our goal is to make it at least to Globe, AZ. Where we will decide to camp for the night or continue on to Tucson. You know I'm all for the camping.

In Tucson our home base will be a 1 bed room vacation rental. From there we will be setting off on many adventures. Including shopping at the gem and mineral show, hiking, mountain biking, dinner with old friends and I can't forget that I'm gonna put the bus on a dyno.

I'll be posting on a daily basis I'm sure. I know the rules, pics or it didn't happen. There will be plenty of picks and we got a video camera so I'm hoping to make a short movie. We'll see how that goes.

Rich- If you need anything around Flagstaff let me know. We have some vw buddies camping out in catalina state park. Great camping with hot showers, great trails for biking/hiking and not too far from the gem and jam. Have a blast brother! We are heading up to Pagosa next weekend.

Wishing you a good safe and enjoyable trip. Good timing as the weather is real nice right now. Lot of folks think it's the best time of the year. Honk when you drop down into and drive thru the Valley of the Sun on the way to Tucson. If you wern't already scheduled for tomorrow you could stop by for one of the get-togethers of some of the local VW crowd. I scrubbed up my bug for a show tomorrow and then our normal Saturday show later in the day.

Will be curious about your dyno venture. Please fill us in on the details. We have VW engine and chassis dynos and performance shops in Phoenix but Chirco is the familiar one in Tucson.

Have fun Wink

On the road. 830 is close to 8. Gotta stop and gas up on the way. It has been snowing, I hope the roads are good.

We made it to Gallup, NM. We stopped to have lunch at a small place called grandmas burritos. The bus is running great, cruising at 65 all the way. Only got 16.6 mpg on the last tank Sad. I'm hoping it's because we were driving in high winds for about 80 or so miles. We stopped once to feed Miles somewhere on the Navjio resveration.

Fool Hollow Lake in Show Low hot showers and flush toilets.
In the Salt river canyon, near the bottom take the road to the right and camp near the river.

A half day out of the Salt River Canyon and they will have to put up with 70's and 80's. No cold in the desert this week.

Well look to here how it went in Salt River Canyon. Obviously no signal in the bottom for reception, well maybe AM radio.

Camping went great! The spot was beautiful and the temp was good. Glad I had the Hankooks for that dirt road. We are in globe headed on the last leg to Tucson. I got a bunch of picks. I'll post them later.

Great trip down here. The bus ran great except for only getting around 16mpg. Guess I'm going down to smaller idle jets. The camping was super pretty and the time with the family was priceless. Here are some pics.
Gallup, NM is a interesting place.

We are staying in this hippy style commune with little cubed houses everywhere. First guy I saw wanted to talk about my bus. Think I'm gonna like it here.
