What a fantastic bus, and such a beautiful interior. You've done some great work restoring all that wood, it looks spot on _________________

What a great bus! I love the color combo sg/pg. Thanks for sharing the details. I've learned a lot from this thread. I'm just beginning an interior re-furbish on my so-35 and this has been a huge help. |

Jake, I'm curious how you polished the hatch trim without eliminating the delicate pattern?
Any hints would be appreciated. |

wow I'm really glad photo bucket finally started showing their photos again, I really need to upload everything to the samba and edit all my posts
Neil, very very carefully! I wouldn't go as far to say I polished them, as much as cleaned them as well as possible. Any kind of aggressive cleaning or polishing would alter the surface finish, eliminating the 'engine turning' like you mentioned. At one point I considered re-turning the pattern but I really tried to preserve the originality of that bus.
dang, you got me all reminiscing!! _________________ drive your split. |

also that last photo of me driving, reminded me that I should include this thread where I documented a similar project of restoring a 1961 westfalia 'sloper' roof rack.
