, if stock untampered with..
people distort the vc around the stud holes, a socket and ball pean hammer helps fix..
tip#2, change studs, get mk3 style all rubber gaskets, they have a steel insert built in.. but gotta change the studs..
vac pump is a rubber diafram style, so has hose that goes to the engine block..
uses a paper gasket, do not use rtv around it.. the vac pump has oil return drains built innto its base.. but the black tar permetex stuff, some of that works great.. in little jar with brush.. i use it on the paper tranny gaskets.. lot of air cooled do too.. stuff never gets hard per say..
look really good at that hose.. the nipple on pyump is kinda short, wrong hose clamp, too thick a hose.. they tend to leak oil due to oil vapors.. diesel fuel dripping on that hose makes it soft and leak too.. its breather vapor..
tip#2,,, i use a k&n pvc filter on the vac pump, block off port on block, or t it into vc breather hose.. i find that the vac pump screws with the crank case pressure and makes mine use oil.. capping it off and filter made it stop using oil.. also made silly hose never seep oil again..
now if its got non original parts.. im no help.. |

also make sure the screws or nuts which tighten the cover are tightened with the correct torque. in the most cases excess tightening crush the gasket and cause to make leakage after low mileage used and in some cases the nuts or screws didn't tighten enough to prevent the leakage.
before buy a new gasket or using any silicone sealant or... it's better to make sure that they tightened in correct torque. |
