Yeah, sounds like it. These are the wheels you have right?

Those use the 68/later flat style hubcaps. Is that the look you want?
I seemed to remember moon style hubcaps being available that fit the 4-lug wheels as well, and searched, and found this - no VW logo though.

Yes, that's the wheels I have. Thanks for the link! That's the hubcaps I want. I'd like the VW logo, but I'll settle for the smooth. I just like the moon caps. Thanks guys, I'm a noob and trying to learn!

I've not handled those caps personally, but if they are like most aftermarket caps I suspect they will be pretty thin on the metal, and you'll have to be careful installing them to prevent them from denting.

Here's a thought.... you can get VW logo decals, which are designed to fit inside the VW logo on stock caps. I wonder how horrible it would look if you tried putting them on those smoothie style hubcaps. I suspect it wouldn't work out very well though.

Those are the most common style of hubcap (they fit all types since 1968), so you'll find lots in the classifieds I bet. New, as noted, may be too thin to last. Find originals and have them straightened and re-chromed if necessary; they will outlast the new caps. Unless they curbed them and scraped the chrome off, I've found straightening originals and going over them with steel wool gives me a great condition cap.

The ones I linked to were not the standard flat hubcap though - he wanted a moon style cap and it seemed those were the ones he was interested in. Thus the warning about quality of those non-stock style aftermarket caps.

I too would recommend shopping for good-used if stock flat-top hubcaps were to be used here.

Bugs used those from 1968-79 except for special edition models. Type 3s used them 68-73, and all type 4s. Bus used them from 1972-79 and many post 1980 Vanagons used them as well.

I know this wasn't your question but it would solve your issue..

Wide 5 disks are so cheaply priced these days, even with drop spindles. Its a sin to run the old 4 lug stuff. I know the CSP and super high end stuff is still really pricey but I've installed a few sets of the EMPI kits on customer cars and a friends two beetles (I know I know EMPI sucks) both front and rear and with and without drop spindles and they were easy installs and I was pretty impressed with the results as were the customers.. I recommend the forged rear caliper bracket and not the stamped one tho, it really makes a difference in pedal feel..I'm sure you could even pass the 4 lug stuff on to someone and gain some funds toward a wide five set...

The hub caps you are searching for, were standard on the Beetle from 68 on up.

They were standard on Type III and Ghia's from '67 on up.

Ghias and Type III came with front disk brakes from '67 on up.

For Type 3s:
68-up on those caps 66-up are 4-lug but 66-67 Type 3s have unique hubcaps.
66-up on front disc brakes.

Suggestion - I use spray undercoat on the inside of all of my hubcaps after a throrough cleaning. Logic is that it will help rust from forming.
