Ouch! Personally I would look for a standard shell. You got all the working parts on the super. Just find a boned out standard and build that. Lots less grief.

Im not sure about the swap of the frame head. My thought would be to tube the front end. I can sympathize with the money situation but I think by the time you get the head and the beam and the time involved You better have the rest of the car in good shape. Theres a cool roller in Zeeland for $1000 right now. Not sure where in MI you are.

Ok that changes everything. Anything can be done with a torch and welder. I think back to some of the rides I had at 17. I would be sure to work out some beam supports. What part of the state are you in? We have a swap meet in Lansing end of March.

That looks pretty straight forward. Will need to hack the body a bit. Dooable though.

That doesn't make any sense your grandfather has 35 bugs and you end with a super Beatle.

when I have done them, I take care to cut the old off as clean and straight as possible. Then when mocking the new one up, U put a piece of tubing in one of the beam spots....about 5 foot wide. Center it and then use it to measure back to points on the pan. Once its squared up, tack it good, then weld it in steps...so as not to overheat and warp it.
