So today I tried to tack weld the B pillar back together till I can get another one...............FAIL! Not sure what its made of but it isn't steel....LOL. Finally got it to stick a little and then used JB weld to see if that will hold it together.
While the 1/4 window was out I decided to change the rubber on that side. It was by far the biggest PITA to do on this car so far, will know tomorrow if the quick fix worked. _________________ Chuck in Socal

Today was interior day. I scored a set of 2006 Maxima seats for next to nothing for the Ghia this week in tan or saddle color. I've been looking for this color since the interior will be in this color when done. I also got some slider bases so that I didn't need to drill any holes in the pan to mount different seats, I will keep the stockers to have if I ever sell it. A little fab work and the passenger seat is mocked in and tested. I need to finish welding it to the seat bottom and put all the trim back on the seat, but I like the look and they are way more comfortable than stock. The seat backs are a little wider than the originals and the bottoms are about half an inch taller, or maybe there just not worn out........LOL.

As long as the backing board is good you can probably recover them. _________________ Jesse

I will be making my own interior panels when it comes to that time.
So today I fabbed up the drivers seat and got it installed for a test fit/drive. I will run them as they are for a few days to see if that's there final home. I'm thinkin that I will figure out how to drop them down 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and maybe back another 1/2 inch. All in all there really comfy and much better than the stock seats were.

I'm looking forward to picking the right seats when I get the body back. Feedback on those when you have an opinion on them. I'm kind of leaning towards a bolstered seat that can accommodate a five point. _________________ Jesse

Should look pretty sharp with the tan/ brown interior (is that what your plans are?). _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

I was thinkin Oatmeal carpet and tan/saddle interior panels, I will find something as close to the seats as possible. I think I will cover the dash also and not use the wood overlay and see if I can find a close to matching headliner. Stay with the black cap on the dash, black seatbelts and park brake cover with some other black accents _________________ Chuck in Socal

Remember that they sell that interior die spray now. You can find the color you need and the stuff comes out like factory finish. As for the dash I plan on using vinyl wrap. _________________ Jesse

Yeah I was thinking foam backed vinyl for the dash, like 1/8 inch foam, don't want a lot of padding. Some good adhesive and a heat gun and you can make vinyl do a lot! _________________ Chuck in Socal

You may want to use 4 way stretch vinyl to cover your dash. It will make the job much easier. _________________ ----------------------

Cool I did that too I used to do show cars for the Low Rider Magazine (A & G) show in the Pro power class at the L.A. Coliseum. A friend of mine owned a shop in San Fernando Cali. I also did the B & M offshore power boat. That was a blast. _________________ Jesse

It was fun while it lasted, the industry has taken a bit of a kick in the ass with the economy along with manufacturers building a lot of crap now compared to what was available a few years ago. Back when I was in it Rockford Fosgate, Cerwin Vega and Audio Control where at the top of the game. I wish Audio Control still made the ESP3 I'd love to have one of those again.
Remember Term Pro? 6th Order Compound Loaded Isobaric Bandpass was my favorite to build. My biggest one was with 4 15" Rockford Pros, the smallest was 2 6" Cerwin Vegas _________________ Jesse
