apparently ET30, would explain why they fit so well considering they are not suppose to fit on type 3.

Keep in mind that there are different manufacturers of 8 spoke rims, and offsets vary among them. I only say that, as Rocket brand 8 spokes fit can hit the caliper (depending on the caliper), while American eagle 8 spokes will clear the caliper with ease. From what I understand, the offsets are anywhere from 20, 25, and 30, depending on who made them (which is why some fit better than others). Shocked

One thing I have noticed is mine don't have the center caps with 4 screws, just has round clip in type center caps, like fuchs do. in saying that, all of them are missing, empi caps clearly wont fit.

Bob, don't take the bait. I know it's hard.

Gay-ass China copy "Empi" 8-spokes... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The fine automobile here in this build thread has a set of 5-lugs on it. Cool

Yup, love the Porsche cookie cutters on that car. The silver on the rims really compliment the early Fastback body style. I love the rim and color combo, but then I partial to dark blues. Cool It also helps that we also own a Fastback. Very Happy

I was just trying to point out there are several manufacturers of the 8 spokes, and there are different offsets to go with them. I know Vlad likes to hijack other people's threads, as he's more interested in working on Holden's, rather than his own Notchback. Shocked

I love the cutters Smile can't understand why so many people hate the cutter wheels so much?

having cutters is instant flaming by other vw owners, doesn't appear that way here.

I've always like them, way before I even knew what a VW was.

+1 on the fuchs, never get bored looking at fuchs, especially the late 70s ones you get on 930s Drool

Fuchs are played out. Rolling Eyes Everybody has them. But the Cookie Cutters are a nice change of pace, and look fantastic on a type 3, especially a dark blue Fastback. They just look right on there. Cool Kind of like chromed 5 spokes look good on a bug. The Fuchs are probably the 1 style of rim I'll never use on my type 3. I'll go with 996 or Boxster rims before I do a set of Fuchs. Shocked

same here where I live. never heard or seen fuchs or any Porsche wheels on a vw before until the internet and attended few vw shows in recent years.

When I saw fuchs on a vw for the first time. I was drooling Drool

when Bob said played out wheels these automatically came to mind.

I think i have to order some other color "leather" for the parcel shelf (or whatever it is called Razz)
It is too white, it`s offwhite but the interior is more beige i think..

you may find your interior has yellowed some from age plus darker staining of sorts I can see in the pics.

Is cutting the rear deck for speakers a no no??? I was thinking of putting speaker there or some 6.5" speakers in some cardboard cylinders and then upholstering to look like round pillows. Confused

they work well in the tubes, but you need to secure them somehow to keep them in place. I have elastic straps with snaps to hold mine.
the 3.5" in the drive-in speakers are just filler, and they look funky Wink they are held in place with big rare earth magnets that keep them in place even on panic stops.

well then, I guess I wont be the 1st one to do this. Confused I will probably do the same with a strap to a snap on the seat cover and extra length of wire to put them on a roof rack at shows.
