Guys, if the powers that be don't mind, I plan on making another excursion down to Ocracoke and Howard's Pub this year. I didn't exactly get to enjoy Howard's Pub two years ago when we went (I'm sure many of you remember why!).
Looking at the schedule I"m probably going to do this Wednesday, leaving with the drive to Island Cruisers and then just continuing on. Will be back in plenty of time for the Bonfire on the Beach. This drive includes a ferry ride from Hatteras to Ocracoke Island and is a very nice trip. I welcome anyone who would like to join me. Just let me know
Here's a few pics from the 2012 trip (sorry I don't have any of the 'event'):

If Darlene is up for it, I am too. Lunch at Howards Pub sounds like a plan!
Oh, here is the "Event".

Adam,
I'd don't know about the "powers that be" but Vince and I definitely don't mind. In fact there is time built into the schedule to do exactly what you are planning ("Free Time for Small Group Outings"). You'll see it in the calendar.
Sounds like fun. By the way, I understand duct tape can fix just about anything.
Lastly, this thread might not be the only place that the "event" might show up. I wouldn't miss the movie screening Friday night, if I were you

Well, I only say that because we'll need to skip the Mechanics Class.. It's about a 65 mile drive each way and the ferry takes about 40 minutes and leaves once an hour so the trip takes most of the day.
I won't miss movie night, no worries there! _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

|
|
Lots of new info has been added to the MOTB website (toward the bottom of the main page). Go have a look.
Just a quick update: Early registration forms have been flying in from all parts of the country and outside the country since the opening up of registration. Don't miss your opportunity to take advantage of reduced registration and event shirt costs by getting your info in by 30 September. Remember, after 30 September you will have to register and buy shirts at the event. Just five weeks left!!!
Also, more information will be posted soon on the website regarding more activities and scheduling. Keep checking back.
If you have any questions reach out to Vince or me (info is on the website).
See you on the Banx!

Request for a little help:
All, we are in desperate need for raffle gift donations. Like all Manx Club events the raffle ticket sales are a great fund raiser for us. Unlike previous years, we currently don't have the level of donations we would like. If you have something, or know of someone that would donate, please let me know. [email protected]
Thanks. _________________ Bud (1Madmanx)

Reservations for Travelodge are made. Registration going out this afternoon! Thanks to frizzardking for the recommendation on buggy rental, since mine won't be done in time.
Arriving Tuesday night, and staying through Sunday morning. Can't wait to meet you all! _________________ -(Loretta) Manx # M2940D910E on customized 1970 chassis by Joescoolcustoms

Is anyone else bringing their pups to the beach?

We have 3 cavaliers that we always bring down. We leave them at the Travelodge most of the time, during MOTB. We also rent a few houses in different areas, each year but prefer the Travelodge for MOTB. There are sand spurs in some areas but not there. Plenty of grass and very friendly. _________________ I'd rather be an hour early than 5 minutes late. (Mine)

You're in Columbia? What part? I'm in Irmo (says Georgia, but I work in Columbia during the week, and head back to Ga during the weekends). We definitely need to get together! _________________ -(Loretta) Manx # M2940D910E on customized 1970 chassis by Joescoolcustoms

Hey guys, will your dune buggy be included in the official upcoming group photo for this year's 2014 Manx on the Banx?
Right now, this image is empty, but our plan is to take this very same shot on Friday morning, October 17th at the Kitty Hawk Kites complex, Nag's Head, NC, with all of the dune buggies that are present at that time. A drawing will be held on Thursday evening, October 16th, to determine placement in the photo, so as to give everyone present an equal chance to be up front the following morning. Those that miss the drawing but make it to the photo shoot the next morning will be placed along the back lines.
Once this photo is taken, we will make our way next door to the front of the Kitty Hawk Kites complex and set up for the Show N' Shine Car Show and public display. Members that were present for the drawing the evening before will line up this time in reverse order, allowing those that were in the rear for the overhead group shot to be up front in the grassy area along Hwy 158/S. Croatan Hwy in front of Kitty Hawk Kites. (Once again, those that missed the previous evening's drawing will be placed along the back lines). This will allow for more informal group photos that can be taken from across the street, with the Kitty Hawk Kites complex in the background.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity! More details coming soon. _________________ Gary David Holbrook

Gary, That lot looks like it will hold 70 buggys with no problem. Where will the other 130 park?
Now I see how you will use the same OP for both photos.
I still think the second location is much larger.
Save a good spot to plant the flowers.
