Yes wow!

All that paperwork and original paint, all I'd do on the outside is give it a really good bath, a simple green wipe down, wash and then hand rub some carnuba wax onto that old paint and get it polished up with the original patina and leave it that way!

Great find,

Tom

I agree completely. Go over it and make it 100% mechanically sounds, but keep all of the patina.....

I once had luck with a grease pump. Made a lid that goes on top of the cilinder and bolted to the studs so that there is no space between and shut it like a head. In this lid, there is a greas niple.... pump it until the piston is free. I first oiled it with wd40...

I haven't tried it myself yet, but will if I ever need to... on one of those stupid TV restoration shows, they heated up a super light weight oil (cooking oil?) to near boiling point and pored it into the cylinders to free up a vintage aircraft engine.

obviously, if you try it, don't heat the oil on an open flame.

I have solved this problem with PB Blaster. I turned the engine so the cylinder was facing up and soaked the cylinder with PB Blaster. The next day the Blaster had run down and dissolved the rust. The cylinder came off with some persuasion from a rubber mallet and careful prying with a large screw driver. Be careful not to break the cylinder fins.

I'd swear by PB blaster too, sometimes it takes a day or two with the part saturated, but it's never let me down.
