I'm looking to change the look of my car a little bit. I'd like to run a set of silver BRMs on my 67 beetle. The car is lowered in the front with 2.5" drop spindles and about 1.5" in the rear. Stock trans and 67 axles. My plan is 15x4.5 with stock 165s on the front. And 5.5s or 6.5s in the rear with 195/65/15s on the rear. Most of my research says on paper this should work. Is it asking too much to expect the 6.5s to fit under the stock rear fenders with the 195s? I'd like to see a little bit of a wheel lip. Nothing crazy, just enough to know that it's a wider wheel at a casual glance. I hesitate to just get the 5.5s which should be no problem at all. Due to the fact that most people have told me you may not really notice the different with the 5.5s. If all else fails. I may just go back to my original plan of some 6" widened factory 66-67 wheels for the rear. Any info would be greatly appreciated. _________________ I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I would buy the 5.5" since you can run 205's on them to get the tires close to the fenders. I doubt you could run 205's on the 6.5" without rubbing? I would rather have bigger tires than bigger wheels. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I get that. But I want a stock or as close to stock height tire as I can. I had 205/60s they were too short. And I doubt a 205 in a factory height would fit. _________________ I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I don't worry about stock height. I have 205X70 & 185X60 on 5.5" wheels to fill the fenderwells with a 1.5" forward rake. I am down 2 splines in front & 1 spline in the rear.

A stock height (155/80-15) is 24.8"
A 205/60-15 has a 24.7" diameter, which is about as close to the stock height as you can get.
A 195/65-15 has a slightly larger diameter, at 25.0"
To be on the safe side, I'd go with the 5.5s. |

Is the offset of the BRM replicas an issue? I see many people running them so I imagine not. I'd really like the 6.5s but I value function over form. _________________ I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
