Hi guys.

I'm running a 1600 single port. Stock cam. Twin solex 34pci

It's on red boxes but with proper tyres and 60mph is 3341 rpm

Engine runs cool and well but I am only getting 22mpg. I have checked ignition and that all looks ok. I know its a touch rich but obviously more than I realised.

I used the jets suggested on a German website about tde setups but wondered if fellow vintage speed nuts could suggest a better start. Ideally I will rolling road it but want to be as close as poss.

Currently

27mm venturi (tde used 28 but I don't have any)
145 main
175 main air
1.1mm idle air
10 mix tube
50 idle jet.

Any better suggestions. The main jet is a pig in these and you have to strip the carb to get to them.

Thanks

Seb

145?

My cammed 1916s have 140s so maybe 145 is a little rich?

Yeah I followed the advice of a German website about early solex 34pci kits. I realise this is very wrong and want to get closer before I shell out on a dyno to tweak.

The maths suggests you multiply the venturi size by anything from 4.2 to 5 depending on who you listen too and that means anything from 115 to a 135 main. But I know nothing about carbs....

Hi

No suggestions? I did speak to a carb guy in the UK but the suggestions he made didn't quite seem right either.

He suggested 2 setups.

Main jet 150
Air correction 200
Idle jet 55

Or

Main jet 135
Air correction 200
Idle jet 45

I did thing about using the jetting from the 32pbic from the okrassa carbs

Any bright ideas?

Seb

I am about to put a Riechert Tuning kit with dual Solex 34 PCI on a stock single port 1600cc engine me too.

I got the following advice from Riechert Tuning:
venturi= 28 i.d.
main jet 142,5
air corr. jet 175
emulsion tube 10
needle valve 1,2
idle jet 50
accelr.pump valve M w/o bypass !
volume = 0,4-0,6 ccm each press,each carb !
don t change idle air jet.

Do you guys know where to purchase these jets?

My venturis are smaller so thats why I need smaller value jets

I cant get venturis but did find all the jets here in the uk. The emulsion tubes are the same as 28pci carbs and they use a 10 so that fairly easy.

I should have the 175 and the 142.5 here and can order the others with my new jets and send them on. They are about £8 each from my supplier tho so adds up quickly!
