Any hog hunters on here?

Not really sure how far south one needs to be to see wild boars.

Funny you should bring this up. In our area there is a new problem of ferrell pigs and open season on them. I was planning on getting some new broadheads for my crossbow in case some venture onto my property. Not quite wild boar, but there are supposed to be some really big ones out there.

Gordo.

The southeast corner of VA is supposed to have some wild boars but I am told there are more cottonmouths there than grass! Laughing

Not sure if the hog meat is worth getting bit deep in the woods.

I thought of just hunting the hogs during winter months so no snakes. I would not mind shooting them long distance if they are really wild.

I am building a scoped AR-15 w/ heavy barrel 6.8 SPC. That should be good for pigs.

they use dogs and pistols out here..fella I knew used four dogs, three pits and a lab..the pits would keep the pig occupied in front and the lab would circle round back and rip at the pigs nutsack...the pig would then back up against whatever it could find,a tree or a rock and the guy would pop him...

gotta have a taste for wild pig,or cook hell outta it in a stew..ask me its nassy..

Ever seen wild boar hunting on the big island of Hawaii?? Quite a sight, and the only weapon used is a large hunting knife. Talk about getting down and dirty!

We flushed/killed wild pigs in a big herd out of Red Bluff, CA. The meat was good, but they were a mixture of domestic/peccary pigs.

Wild boar ranches in Michigan were banned a few years ago. Too many of them got loose, and you know problems will arise with that much free range bacon there for the taking.

The good news? The ban helped us get rid of our Ted Nugent problem.

Just come on over to our home. We've got feral pigs trying to break through our fencing every night. BTW, young ones are very tasty. Fully mature ferals are pretty gamey.....and they're all very destructive (rototillers on 4 feet)...

Friends used to have an almond grove in NorCal. They had constant problems with wild pigs who love to eat the almonds on the ground. The pigs were some sort of Russian mix. They were very had to kill and not very tasty at all.

That would be awesome setup. Almond field and sausage factory at same time.

You just gave me the best idea! Now I have to look for a property w/ fruit-bearing trees and pig infestation. Laughing

Won't be that easy man. My guns are all illegal in state of CA. Very Happy

How many rounds are you allowed in CA? and what is w/ this no-detachable magazine law? The "button" fix is ingenious for AR owners!

You don't need a fully automatic anything to hunt unless you are a bad shot. Max mag in CA is 10 rounds.
