|
|
Look my new acquisition ...
As many know, in Colombia these buses have been modified to desist to die and continue to rolling in our roads.. and the Colombian "rocket" is one of them "
Saved this BD Standard 1952 in a piece of junkyard near Cali ( Colombia) and I'm thinking what to do with it . it´s possible to rescue it?
I understand it has a high cost to restore but i think is a good piece.. I have spoken a few times with Gerson about this project and others that I have on the way to give me some tips because need good knowledge to work on these buses so leave as original state.
I put some pictures and I'm free to hear all the terrible reviews about the designer who tried to modernize this Bus.... he must work in Italy!!! Because i love Italian cars..
I have a question about the type of body..
I have seen in the type of buses (a font or number ) that is placed after the type . I Do not know if that font is marked in the plate in these older models.
How I can identify the correct type ? I doubt for how many windows it have ( I guess 11) because someone extended the panels of the side windows and rear also ..
Thanks for any comment that make me grow up my moral to save this bus.
Saludos.

this thing is so funny looking, it's great !
But not all is lost with the bus. first it's a 52 which makes it really worth restoring and the frame doesn't seem so bad. you will need some donor panels , but go for it ! great project.
why has it got citroen rear wheels ? |
I already have the donor, now will see what happens with this project.
Now look what's under hood. Engine Type 3 " I think". I'm not sure the cylinder capacity, but I found a reason to Airfoil Design.
the answer to your question, disc brakes.

I love this discucion, since the rocket went from being a ugly Colombian bus and jump to fame because also was shared on Barndoor Division at Facebook and has had nearly 1,500 views in the Samba in just 3 days.
Thanks for alllll your comments ...
You think they would be accepted at the Barndoor gathering?....

Model 22 is a Standard Microbus so yes, it should have 11 Windows.

The modifications are quite disturbing - it would be nice to see it returned to it's correct shape. |

Your opinion of my opinion is 100% accurate data. |
I´m a classic man, i will do the best to return it to the original shape, but at the moment i´ll stay apart because i´m in other projects.
It was just a finding on my way that i could not resist to buy it.. _________________ 1953 w26 SC (To Restore) x Sale
