The side mirrors on this beast were pocked after market trash so I bought some Thing extensions to raise the mirror as a better view experiment. I used the og mirrors that were on the 74 (Ill buy expensive nos ones later) and put them on the panel.

I like the mirror placement being higher.

*sniff* I'm firmly in the "don't paint it" camp. When t comes to panels, I like seeing the businesses they were used for.

Aw, man, now you CAN'T paint it. Shocked

But if you will, and it seems you will, I vote (unsolicited advice, here) that you go back to the original orange. It seems that this is your intention, anyway.

And if it needs new seats, is that a late '76 that would accept Vanagon seats? May as well, unless you intend to go back to original 1976 seats.

Great find, man.

Well that time has passed Crying or Very sad Logged the history and moved on.

I ended up cleaning up the front bumper and prepping the headlight washers - that stuff looked so nice I had to make the bus look nice. Cool

Spent yesterday and today sanding and prepping for paint. My cousin did the honors of shooting. Yep thats outside under a tree Shocked Moved the bus into the garage to cure overnight - then tomorrow another coat.

Fresh bumper.

Congrats! That's a very straight bus, especially considering it came from the wet coast. Good luck with it!

So my weekend warrior refresh has come to a hault. Quicky sand and pait with Rust Oleum. Shes a 10 footer but looks like the work vehicle she was in 76. Put on the headlight washer over riders, clean and painted the bumpers, put on a Westfalia trailer hitch (need to wire it). Last will be the rims. Ill strip and paint silver. After that its get the BA6 running and enjoy my work hack. Cool

I thought about buying this bus too, It was the daily driver and delivery van for the teddy bear and toy store down the street from my home when I was growing up. It's actually the second one thay had like that as the first one rusted out.

Interesting to know. This bus had several coats of paint off the original one. So its life from 76 to the 80's sometime had seen some action. Its a straight bus with wear thats not detrimental. I guess hauling toys wasn't a harsh job at all. Wink The artist signed the bus in 85 and I was told the store started in 84? What else do you know of this first bus?

Wow you banged that out quick. That should make a super nice work van.

No disrespect but I really think the toy bus logos were awesome and brought added value to the table as well. If your gonna keep it and love it I forgive you Wink
