My '66 Beetle is in very good condition. Preparing the car to be sold the original owner had the car re-painted without removing any of the windows. I have two project planned that will require the windows to be removed. The windshield has a break and needs replacing and I want to install pop-out in the car. Knowing what the window opening will look like when they are removed will there typically be an ugly paint line after the new seals and windows are installed? Will new seals usually over lap the paint line?

I've considered having all of the windows removed and those areas feathered and re-painted for obvious reason but it would be a little more than I want to take on right now.

the front seal would be 50-50 that it will cover the paint line. the rear pop-outs will for sure show the paint line when opened.

yeah you better make yourself ready for some blend-in painting

I sometimes 'cheat' when repainting a car: I leave the old windows installed but cut the edge of the old window rubbers back 1/8-inch with a sharp knife.

After the car is painted, replace the glass with clean pieces and new rubbers.

The new rubbers will conceal/seal the fresh paint's edge

Doing this saves lots of work with masking paper Smile

I think I may just wait until I'm ready to have the new windshield and pop-outs installed and have the remaining rear window and trim and have everything touched up before putting all of the windows back in with all new seals.
