What are the Bonneville racers doing for 15" speed rated tires. Im looking for a set of street tires and possibly a set of race tires for the salt. If anybody has suggestions or maybe an abandoned project with tires which will suit please let me know. H,W,Z, or V ratet tires are what I'm looking for in the speed rating.
Thanks,
Britt

You can search by speed rating at Tire Rack.

I put 185/65 tyres on my salt lake race Beetle. On a 4.5-inch rim. Not sure of speed rating (car is elsewhere so I cannot check) but IIRC they are rated to 240km/h. They are standard-street Nankangs... so yeah they are available and will do the job for 130MPH

As an aside, I bought Formula Vee tyres (light, purpose-built high-speed tyre!) but the scrutes knocked me back due to there not being a speed rating embossed on the tyre. I was rather pissed-off with that!

I found what I was looking for, 15" V rated tires for under $75 each, new but the tight wad in me says to check for some used ones for less money.

Federal Formoza's have H and V ratings. My 165'45s are V rated my 215/65s are H rated.

My front runners are all rated to 300mph. Keep an eye open in the clasified for the fornt runners they come up kind of often. I just got my 22x3.5's last month and my 26x4.5s in December. 1/2 price and all are new.

What sizes are you looking for Britt? Sometimes we get decent take offs at work and they al just go to the recycler. Can probably find some good rims and throw them in the truck.

Do you want something around 26" tall? Front or rear?

Not too fussed, they can be any size because I'm going to just run the 130 club and use the same engine that Geoff built for the previous runs.
