The only negative feedback I have ever received was from a blind person who in his own words " relied on the item description". Item was a small crystal chihuahua cellphone dangler. I don't know what he was expecting. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Ebay was the creator of PayPal
Both exist to make money.
When the sole purpose of a business is to generate a buck,
there is no legitimate protection for a customer.
Both Sellers and Buyers are subject to the results. _________________ Jim is on the road @ http://www.trulyvintagetrailers.citymax.com/trulyvintage-feedback.html |

Actually that's not correct. PayPal was created by Elon Musk who also founded Space X and Tesla. He sold PayPal to ebay for a very large fist full of money. |

The point remains that both businesses are in business to make money. Ebay needs that positive, safe image or else people wouldn't take the risk of getting burned.
I think the old feedback system worked well because you knew if a buyer was a risk or not when they won your auction. Now that buyers can't be left with negative feedback, sellers get stuck wasting time on deadbeats who don't pay or take too long to pay. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

I had an issue with a seller once telling me that I was required to leave her feedback before she could leave me feedback.
I told her she was wrong, she then e-mailed me that she only leaves feedback for people who leave her feedback.
I searched her feedback and found about a dozen people who left her feedback that she didn't leave feedback for. Copy, paste and attached to my next e-mail to her. She flies off the handle calling me all sorts of name I can't post here.
I reported her to ebay, they send me a response say her account was terminated.
Now if I see in a description that they want feedback I don't bid. |

What’s the point of feedback on potential buyers when there’s a ton of settings that you can enable to make them go away? For example, if you’re concerned about not getting paid fast enough then setup your listing as BIN/Best Offer and check the box for immediate payment. Or if you like the auction style just go in and setup your “Buyer Requirements” to suit your needs.
Some examples:
Don't have a PayPal account
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 6 Month(s)
Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to
Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
Then you can go in and look at your “Buyer Requirements Activity Log” to see who was blocked and why. |

Regarding ebay vehicle sales ...
I always ask how the Buyer of a car I am hauling found their car ...
For the vehicles purchased making use of ebay,
most buyers and sellers use ebay as a cost effective classified ad
to make initial contact - then come to an agreement by other means.
Personally - I rely on the good old fashioned telephone to determine
if I will do business with someone or not .... _________________ Jim is on the road @ http://www.trulyvintagetrailers.citymax.com/trulyvintage-feedback.html |

I agree this is common.
I have sold 2 cars this way - car did not sell on eBay, a non-winning bidder or someone who saw it there contacted me afterward and bought the car.
I bought a Bus this way too - buyer listed it on eBay with crazy reserve due to bad advice from other people. I bought it a few months later for a fair price. I did know about it before the auction though, he wanted to eBay it. _________________ How to Post Photos

So I bid on your stuff, paid you within minutes of the close of the auction, and you won’t post positive feedback for me until I post positive feedback for you? What did I do wrong? |
THIS is my biggest gripe and its something that has started happening since eBay won't allow sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers.
If I, the buyer, purchase an item from you the seller, and I pay you for the item, I have completed my end of the transaction. YOU the seller HAVE to leave positive feedback, it's even in the damn rules ! When I, the buyer receive the item I have paid for, I am to leave feedback for you the seller. If there is an issue I contact you and we work it out, if that fails eBay mediates it.
As a buyer I'm dealing with this a LOT lately. Even as a seller its getting hard to get people to leave me ANY feedback. eBay needs to make it so that you cannot sell or buy until you leave feedback to people you haven't left feedback for OR, if NO feedback is left after a certain amount of time it is assumed there were no issues and positive feedback is automatically left.
What some of the sellers fail to remember is that they CAN'T leave a buyer negative feedback if the item is paid for ( still a stupid rule but I don't want to get going on slow payers ). So, what I have started doing is threatening the seller with negative feedback until they leave me positive feedback and I politely remind them how the damn process works ! |
Feedback isn't the point. The transaction is the point.
If you got exactly what you paid for, you're going to be unhappy because you didn't get "feedback"? Please get therapy.
Seriously.
In addition, there's absolutely nothing in the eBay "rules" that say sellers have to leave you feedback. In fact, feedback about feedback happens way too often there, and it's removable if reported. Feedback is voluntary. So, you simply upheld your end of the contract that you willingly agreed to enter into and you expect lavish praise? Wow. Just wow.
This constant need for positive reinforcement for every breath one takes today is very troubling to me. No wonder people today, when they fall, fall so hard. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
