I sent a letter asking for info for my car in June of 1995 and included a $5 bill as I didn't know if they charged anything or not.
No answer.
I wrote again two months later and reminded them of my June letter and the money. They did respond a month or so later with a birth certificate in letter form with all my cars info and also sent me a Wolfsburg Museum book for the delay.
Things were not speedy even then. |

I have been waiting over 10 weeks, I have tried to send a reply email but it keeps getting rejected. Does anybody have a good email contact regarding these certificates? |

Here the answer of the museum:
I’m very sorry but the reason is the shortage of personnel and restructuring since January 2014.
In the past we were 4 person for this service and now I’m alone.
I do the best I can but you have to wait longer than regular.

Just pass my order in march... |

Thanks for the info, VW Group Sales are doing very well, I wonder why the museum staff has been cut down.
Thanks |

I know that the VW Classics is being run by new suits as well. Shit is not going as smoothly as I'm used to. Hopefully this is just temporary. _________________ sent from a phone using poor grammar and spelling |

I got my car Aug 17, 2014. Ordered my certificate the next day. I got it in 6 business days! I am sure they processed it that day as mailing from Germany to Canada probably took 5 days.
A bunch of my m codes are missing and that's kinda why I wanted it. _________________ Charmaine

So the VW Museum finally replied and said the same thing to me that he has said to other Samba members, I'm the only one doing the research and it will take a minimum of 6 months.
I think a lot of vintage VW owners are still their customer for new cars and should do a better job with this. My wife and I just spent 50K + for a new TDI Touareg and I also own a 2010 GTI. So I wonder how many vintage VW owners are still buying their cars today?
Thanks, Mike |

Of course she's lucky. She's Canadian. Everyone likes Canadians because they are polite and awesome.

Finally after 10 months I received my certificate and Yes my engine is the original to car. I had a hunch it was and it makes me pretty happy.
Good luck to all others that are waiting.

Bahaha - I'm not sure why I was so lucky! I'll take it, though!
Seriously, though... when I ordered it I was putting in the info on my phone while I fed my baby. I was having a hard time deciphering the german on the site, was extremely tired and mistakingly put in my BODY number instead of the VIN. I paid for it and then as soon as I read over the info again, I realized my mistake. I emailed about 5 different email addresses that I could find for the museum to have my mistake corrected. I believe that they had to pull my file, amend it, so they just pulled the information right then and sent it off.
They were quite friendly with me in their email correspondence.
I was a little disappointed though that the colour of my car (even though I know what it is) was not noted on the certificate and that the M codes are highly inaccurate. _________________ Charmaine

One year ago yesterday, I requested a birth certificate for my 1955 RHD beetle. I quickly received an email saying they received my order then received an email about 6 months later basically saying that they're understaffed and overworked. Still waiting.....
There has got to be a better way.
